Something’s not right

Am I out of line

Am I out of line

I went to see Mum in her room today, she was explaining how she was really sore in her hip or something so she had taken some pain relief and was laying back down until the pain relief started working. I was having spasms and she was talking about having them and pointed at me and said yeah like that. Now the spasms I was having werent bad, annoying, but mainly because I was standing and had been for a while, because she was talking at me. All I could think of while she was going on about this is how she didnt get the irony. I am awaiting a procedure, Im on a great deal more pain relief than you and its still not nearly enough, my spasms at night lift half my body off the bed and you still expect me to do the things I normally would do the next day, you have an issue if I have a nap during the day, you have an issue that I sleep too much. Seriously, your situation and mine are worlds apart and you are asking me for understanding and sympathy for your stubbed toe when I have a broken leg. Offended much

Oh @ClockFace

Nothing worse than when you're in some sort of pain/illness and someone says they feel as bad as you when you know for a fact that can't be possible! VERY ironic. You almost have to laugh. I'm sorry that it's your own mum who is doing this.

Hi @ClockFace

Your title "are you out of line"

This forum is great because it is full of life experienced people.

No one really knows how a situation is until they experience themselves. One hope they do not have to experience a lot of what we go through daily. Mainly hidden mental health or hidden physical issues.

So Out of line? I would more consider your mother may now have greater empathy.

I used to work in a place and someone was off work on Workcover. Other staff gossiped they saw the person carrying groceries so cannot be that bad. Maybe the person was in pain and lived by themselves.

I think you post allows many to have more empathy for others and when we cannot see the pain, we accept that person is in .pain and support them
