Hi @Clauderules

Welcome to the forums. My Mother was narcissistic and subjected me to emotional abuse. Everything that went badly in her life was somehow my fault. We are not in contact anymore. I probably last spoke to her 17 years ago. Her abuse has caused me a lot of emotional turmoil. I think that emotional abuse was worse than the physical abuse that I suffered because it really messed with my head. I hope that you can heal from your abuse.

I have been with my partner for 35 years and we have 2 adult children

I had been living with domestic abuse with my partner and I also experienced domestic abuse in my childhood. Before I tell you my story, my relationship with my partner is no longer abusive he is now a wonderful partner and he did seek therapy for his abuse, that was 7 years ago. He is a completely different person and we both still have a lot of love for each other.

The trauma I am now feeling and experiencing is that my mother in law who was in our lives and my children’s life for 28 years, she pretended to be this wonderful person and I trusted her and loved her more than my own mother

my mother in law looked after and cared for my children when there were times that I could not care for them because I was depressed or when my partner and I were arguing. I knew at the time that my children were safe with her.

unbeknownst to me I was sending my children to a covert narcissist

I had no clue that my mother in law was a covert narcissist.

I am traumatised that she caused harm to my children

Hi 👋🏼 @Clauderules @ How are you progressing?

I noticed your post because it was 13 days after a significant birthday. I had be discarded by my narcissistic partner 6 months earlier.

I hope you are getting the help you need.
