I need someone to talk to anonymously

I need someone to talk to anonymously

About complex sexual trauma, self blame, and living.

I am scared to talk about this, and never have before, because of the stigma around it and attached to it, and my anxiety around whether an anonymous help forum is actually anonymous.

Hi @bouncyspongeman Welcome to the forums.

I would encourage you to have a look at the guidelines

when posting, these guidelines exist to keep everyone safe.

If you would like to speak with a counsellor we have the sane drop in line, 1800 187 263 or webchat

I'm sorry you're hurting, do you have any supports in place?

I hope you find this to be a warm space. Please take care 💝

Re: I need someone to talk to anonymously

Hi @bouncyspongeman and welcome to the sane forums.

I have found the forums to be completely anonymous in all the time I have been here.

I have also found them to be very supportive and encouraging.

There are many members, including myself, that have complex sexual trauma.

I would also encourage you to use the Sane helpline or chat. I have found them to be very supportive.

Just a hint, if you would like to tag someone just put a @ before their name.

Hope you can have a good night.

Re: I need someone to talk to anonymously

Hey @bouncyspongeman I meant to mention that Blueknot may be helpful for you, if you haven't spoken to anyone about this before it might be a good place to start.

We also have the SANE guided service and you can read more about that here. If you register, someone will call you and give you more information and you can decide if it's right for you.

You don't have to go through this alone.

Please take care

Re: I need someone to talk to anonymously

Hey @bouncyspongeman. Unfortunately sexual abuse is an all to common thing. The good news is that because there are so many of us we can all support each other. I have never had any anonymity issues and have also used the SANE telephone support services which have been good in my few experiences.

It’s so brave of you to reach out for the first time to talk about your trauma. You can tell as much or as little as you want.
there are quite a few of us here that understand the trauma, shame and fear self blame and all of that.

There is a quote from a fellow survivor which really hit home for me: “It’s not my secret, it’s theirs”.

All of that blame and shame and negativity feelings are the things that our abusers should have. The shame is theirs, not yours.

Well done for breaking your silence. It’s a massive massive achievement.

Hi @Paperdaisy!

Thanks for responding, I called the SANE phone line and got referred to 1800respect councillor who was very useful.

I struggle with self blame and self hate occasionally - and find it extremely difficult to verbalise my struggles because of this. I was around 6 or 7 at the time.

I feel that my situation is unique, and don’t know if there’s anyone I can talk to that has experienced the same thing

Re: I need someone to talk to anonymously

There are no words @bouncyspongeman It's just so unfair and I'm sorry that happened to you. I can understand wanting to speak to someone who has experienced similar but I also believe that for such deeply traumatic stuff a trained professional is a good place to start. Someone who can unpack that trauma with you and start your journey towards healing. You deserve that support.

Re: I need someone to talk to anonymously

Hi @bouncyspongeman it takes time to build up to being open about sexual abuse but it can be in my experience extremely liberating. All in good time.

I hope u find the forums helpful and i agree these are the safest spaces online due in large part to the presence of peer workers moderators and checking in with members.

CASA is another great org that has a phoneline for sexual assault victims which is very helpful.
