Sadness

Sadness

I recently had some email contact with an ex-partner I haven't seen for 17 years. We met when we were teenagers and we had some wild adventures together in Brisbane, India and Japan. Our relationship ended and we were friends for years before an argument 17 years ago when we severed ties. I am devastated looking back at the impact my mental health had on that relationship. I wasn't diagnosed until my early 30s and then medicated. I look back on my teens and 20s and I see that many of the difficult experiences I had were because of my undiagnosed mental health issues. I have missed out on so much and had so much hardship due to this mental health of mine. I really wish I didn't have mental problems. Sorry but I feel pretty down right now and wanted to share.

Don't be sorry for being down @Former-Member

What you're going through is a form of grief and I think sharing will help you process.

I'm sure many people on here would look back at parts of their lives and feel similar to how you do at this moment

Re: Sadness

I'm sorry this has happened @Former-Member , yet I know, even for myself, I had many many mental health struggles in my youth. Mine were diagnosed in my late teens, however, it did take away most of my adult life.

So much so, now, I make the most of every moment. I feel like I am now making up for all the years I lost in my youth.

As much as I want to say I hate and regret those terrible years, in a way, it has taught me many life lessons.

I hope you find a way to move forward and make the most of your future.

Do you have any supports in place?

Re: Sadness

I don’t have support aside from my doctors. My mum is very practical and supportive in that way but not emotionally supportive. I’ve worn out my friends

How are you going today? Has the cooling darker days been affecting you at all?

Re: Sadness

Hi today was a good day. I spoke to counsellor. Went out for coffee by myself. Soaked in a radox bath. I like the cooler days.
