Welcome and getting started

Swapping/Stopping OCD Behaviours

Swapping/Stopping OCD Behaviours

Hey Everyone,

I’m new here. I have OCD and am in major need of help with swapping a certain compulsion I have. I’ve tried to swap it with lots of different things and nothing sticks. I’d like to quit vaping but unfortunately it has become intertwined into my rituals. It’s bad for me and my families health, and I hate disappointing people. I either want to swap it to something more safe and healthy, or just get rid of this ritual all together!

If you have any ideas, I would love to hear them. At this point I’ll try anything.

@LouLouM Hello 🙂

Well done recognising this isn't healthy, part of change is recognition.

Do you have any interests? Like drawing, art or playing an instrument? You could try spending time studying your interests online and expanding your knowledge on them, and looking for groups you could join to pass time and make friends with shared interests. Its an idea to keep you busy and not thinking of the vape perhaps. 🙂

@sjb800 Thank you so much for the reply! I love playing sport, so that’s a really good idea, I can try and put more energy into that. I’ve had ankle surgery recently, so I had to stop. I think getting back into it will help for sure 🙂

@LouLouM You are very welcome!

Oh yes, sport sounds amazing and would keep you busy for sure 🙂

I hope your healing from your surgery, and maybe you could volunteer on the side lines until you are fit and able to play again. Volunteering is always appreciated and its good for your soul too. I volunteer for a number of organisations, giving my time to support others really makes me appreciate my life and it helps others too.
