My Place

My Place

Hi guys,

I just wanted to have a thread where I could talk about things that make me happy without bothering anyone else.

So on Sunday a week ago I planted some seeds into a metal tub. Some veggie seeds. Carrots, garlic chives and although it’s not the season for it I threw in some cucumber seeds.

Well yesterday, only a week after planting I noticed my first little green shoot. Then today, there are a bunch of green shoots. Funnily enough I think it’s the cucumbers that have come up first. I may have to make a cloche to help them grow in the cooler weather. The tub is sitting on a concrete path so hopefully that will help keep the soil a bit warmer. I moved them a bit more into the sunshine today as we noticed that the carport was casting shade on them quite early in the afternoon.

I am so happy to see their green little faces pushing up from under that dark earth. Gives me hope in all things. I love to watch things grow. It makes me happy to think that I have played a part in that.

Every day I water them and have a chat with them. How are you today my seeds? I hope that you will grow soon! Now I can encourage them to grow bigger and stronger.

I can’t wait to set up my other veggie garden and grow more things. I am especially looking forward to planting my tomatoes come spring.

Hi guys,

Do you like your job with Sane. Was it hard to learn how to do it well?

Re: My Place

hey @Oaktree i do love my job here!!

i had some peer work experience before which definitely helped me enter this role. i think with any job i've had, it's taken me some time to learn and adjust to the role. plus the team here is really supportive which makes the learning process less daunting. personally i'm the type of person who puts a lot of pressure on myself to do well - and one my former managers used to say that 'you were hired for a reason, we read your resume/cover letter and we know you have the skills for this role' which helped. not sure if that answered your question well 😅

@rav3n

Thanks for answering. I am thinking about applying for a community builder role when they become available. I hope that I can do the job.

Re: My Place

That's such a good goal to have @Oaktree!

I also really love this job. I'd previously had some experience in moderating mental health forums as well as providing online mental health support so I felt it was quite natural to learn this role. I think that with all your experience on the forums you would pick it up in no time!

Re: My Place

@Oaktree i feel you, perfectionism is both a blessing and curse sometimes. do you experience imposter syndrome too?
