My Place

Hi guys,

I just wanted to have a thread where I could talk about things that make me happy without bothering anyone else.

So on Sunday a week ago I planted some seeds into a metal tub. Some veggie seeds. Carrots, garlic chives and although it’s not the season for it I threw in some cucumber seeds.

Well yesterday, only a week after planting I noticed my first little green shoot. Then today, there are a bunch of green shoots. Funnily enough I think it’s the cucumbers that have come up first. I may have to make a cloche to help them grow in the cooler weather. The tub is sitting on a concrete path so hopefully that will help keep the soil a bit warmer. I moved them a bit more into the sunshine today as we noticed that the carport was casting shade on them quite early in the afternoon.

I am so happy to see their green little faces pushing up from under that dark earth. Gives me hope in all things. I love to watch things grow. It makes me happy to think that I have played a part in that.

Every day I water them and have a chat with them. How are you today my seeds? I hope that you will grow soon! Now I can encourage them to grow bigger and stronger.

I can’t wait to set up my other veggie garden and grow more things. I am especially looking forward to planting my tomatoes come spring.

I'll agree with 'new friends'. That will always be at the top of my list as well. A full belly as well, depending on what it's full of. If it's chips then I'm as happy as anything. 😄

As you know I also love hot chips. In fact potatoes! I will take potatoes any way they come but especially chipped! I do love a good cheesy potato bake too

Potatoes are just awesome! You can cook them so many ways and they're so tasty. Chips, crinkle cut chips, straight cut chips, fries, chunky cut chips, steakhouse cut chips.... the list goes on and on. 😄

Seriously though, I do love a good potato bake or roast potato as well. Mash is good, potato salad is yummy. Potato fritters (or scallops or cakes, or whatever they're called in WA), even those little potato gum/nugget things. Growing up mum used to make "mock fish". I don't know if you've heard of it, but it was basically grated potato, an egg, a little bit of flour (i think) and shallow fried as thin little patties. I still love them. Basically a has brown I guess, but not as formed. There's another one.... hashbrowns! Wedges. Curly fries. Hassleback potatoes. Baked potatoes. Potato ice cream. Wait... I think i that last one was just a dream 🙂

Even I wouldn’t order potato icecream. Maybe if it also had caramel, I dunno, doubtful?

@OaktreeYou place seems to have done wonders then, so many happy things now. Maybe you should rent it out as a kind of 'happiness retreat'. I'd pay to go!

Unfortunately food makes me happy, that’s why I am so round. Just like Winnie the Pooh. I would love to be thinner but I would miss all my favourite foods

Yeah, food is good. I went for a bike ride today with the kids, so it much make up for the junk I'm going to be devouring.

I guess life is about moderation?
