My Place

My Place

Hi guys,

I just wanted to have a thread where I could talk about things that make me happy without bothering anyone else.

So on Sunday a week ago I planted some seeds into a metal tub. Some veggie seeds. Carrots, garlic chives and although it’s not the season for it I threw in some cucumber seeds.

Well yesterday, only a week after planting I noticed my first little green shoot. Then today, there are a bunch of green shoots. Funnily enough I think it’s the cucumbers that have come up first. I may have to make a cloche to help them grow in the cooler weather. The tub is sitting on a concrete path so hopefully that will help keep the soil a bit warmer. I moved them a bit more into the sunshine today as we noticed that the carport was casting shade on them quite early in the afternoon.

I am so happy to see their green little faces pushing up from under that dark earth. Gives me hope in all things. I love to watch things grow. It makes me happy to think that I have played a part in that.

Every day I water them and have a chat with them. How are you today my seeds? I hope that you will grow soon! Now I can encourage them to grow bigger and stronger.

I can’t wait to set up my other veggie garden and grow more things. I am especially looking forward to planting my tomatoes come spring.

The bad news is that Semaphore in Adelaide is impossibly far from me…

@Oaktree We're going to need to track down a good chippy near you!

@Oaktree Very nice! They seemed to have cut them a bit thinner than usual, but still crispy and sooo good!

Here is hubby’s orange and almond cake. It’s gluten and lactose free. I forgot to take a photo before I cut it this morning. I took a couple of pieces to my son and his fiancé.

It’s a really moist cake. Here is a second one but it got left in the oven too long…

Alas the lemon cake didn’t happen…

Id love to try a bit of that cake. I remember at work, it must have been around 20 years, ago, someone brought in a home made orange cake. It was so moist, it was almost juicy! It was amazing! I still remember it to this day. So a moist orange cake with almonds sounds heavenly! 😇 i do love a xake with darker edges though, so it looks perfect to me Save the darkest bits for me! 😁

I did nothing today. I woke up at 8 and had a shower meaning to go to Church but I was tired so I went back to bed. I then got up and got dressed to go to the later Church service with my daughter but she didn’t get up and go. So I took my dress off and put on my nightie. Had a couple of pigs in blankets with onion, tomato sauce and mustard. Then I went and had a nap. Only just got up. Now I am sitting here in different pjs because I got sauce all over my nightie earlier so now its back in the wash!

@Oaktree It sounds like a day that never really got started. Oh well, it happens. Hopefully tomorrow is a bit more productive, or at least a bit less messy on the PJ 😁

Here is the painting I sold to Murdoch University for $250. It is called Warkaal in the Nebula. It was an attempt to bring Aboriginal dreaming together with my more scientific side.

@moderator the painting is signed in my Aboriginal name and cannot be traced.
