Venting about fear

Venting about fear

Hi all,

Sorry need to vent.

I'm so damn afraid. Last night I cried and cried. I'm a 35 year old man for christsake. I miss the life I could have had. I miss my friends.

There's just nothing out there anymore except work and chores and sleep.

I'm terrified not of anything in particular but of not being able to control my life.

Hey, I am sorry to hear that you feel like you can't turn to others around you, outside of the professional realm in regards to support for your mental health.

I can tell you, that there are spaces on social media and in particular I've seen some spaces on Instagram, that support men who are struggling with their mental wellbeing. Know that there are spaces out there that are working toward supporting men. I would take a look and use your search bar on your Instagram account, and begin checking out some profiles.

I've personally found some of the best support via meeting people in Instagram in regard to my own ADHD diagnosis journey and would have been lost without these people, who on paper, are strangers. There are some good people in the world, who are out here looking to make a difference, so go find those people. Surround yourself with those people who can understand and support you from a social perspective.

Re: Venting about fear

Can i just share with you. My latest schizophrenic episode came to a massive crash last June, I crashed hard. I ran away to my farm and hit the drugs. My world spiralled out of control and by October I was at rock bottom. I sat in my shed and cried. The whole night i cried. I went to my parents the next day as I was ready to self harm and they admitted me to a crisis mental health hospital. I've tried psychiatrist and meds over the years but I was in a bad state this time, I had made some very bad choices.

Finally i got the help i needed. Then i met the best psych for me. I've been clean since October last year and my current meds have taken me on a new course in life. As well as consistent visits to my psych. I am very sick and will not shy away from my mental illness and subsequent downfall. But their is hope.

I live alone by my own choice nowadays because in times of need I had three friends and my beautiful family to support me.

I work full time to ensure social contact because I don't trust anyone outside my circle, unlike you, so called friends were just gossiping hairdressers .

I joined SANE cause my psych says I have a lot to give. I also want to help those in need because I've come from rock bottom.

So please, lifes a journey, cry if you need to, reach out , when you need to but always remember some one is listening and especially in this forum , we understand. I totally get your situation. One other thing, 1 good friend is better than 400 gossiping hairdressers on Facebook or instagram. Bit naive but I don't do social media. Remember you control your destiny, the SANE forum is only a click away.

What an incredible story @Triumph750 ! Thank you for sharing! It is so important to share the hope, especially when things are tough. I've also experienced what it is like to hit rock bottom, be close to death and be then empowered to recovery. I look forward to hearing more of your journey.

Once again, thank you for sharing.

A gentle hint, you can type '@' in front of someone's username so that they receive a notification of your response e.g. @tyme . That way, I won't miss your posts!
