Hi there @scar0 ,
Welcome to the forums.
As for your question, there are probably others who have more insight, but from what I know, YES. It is quite common for people to miss their ex's. Consider all the time you have spent with your ex. Unfortunately, our brains can't just 'delete' these memories.
I'm sure others will have more to add 🙂
You are definitely not alone.

@scar0 From my limited experience yes it's normal but everyone is different . I guess I would ask is missing them holding you back from living the life you want. A break-up is loss and not just a loss of the person but of any expectations or experiences you shared.
Only you will know if you feel stuck in the grief or are moving forward at whatever speed is best for you.
Welcome BTW.

I still miss every ex I have had at times. I've had a lot of relationships over the years. The longest was eight years. Unfortunately my mental health is up and down and it seems that no one wants to stick by me. I can be intense and hard work.
I just sent three very long emails to an ex I haven't had contact with for 17 years. I knew him for almost 20 years, mostly as a friend. We did a lot together. We travelled in India together. We both lived in Japan and he visited me there. We had a tortured relationship.
My emails asked lots of questions. He has replied but I am too scared to read his reply. I'm sure it will politely tell me to get lost and I don't think I can handle that. I don't know what to do.
