Something’s not right

Too soon.

Too soon.

I had the urge to try and resolve something that would let me keep going. I made an appointment for tomorrow and organised to catch up with a friend and troubleshoot how to talk about stuff. I like to be proactive but it's just too soon.

I don't know if or when I'll be ready or if it's even worth trying. When no one is honest about what is happening there is no path forward. At least I was able to talk it through with someone who gets it. I've cancelled my appointment. I'm trying to keep my options open but it all seems too big too scary too unknown.

Trauma just sits in me these days like a poisonous snake in my guts. and anything triggers it, I have this sense that no professional in my life these days has ever actually met me because they have just met the trauma and the label others put on it. And in meeting my trauma some feed it by not seeing beyond it. But I'm not currently able to function without them. The support workers I have now have been great but I still get a feeling that they have never actually met me for any extended period of time. They have just met my trauma.

One day I would like to say hello It's me under here. Pleased to meet you.

Re: Too soon.

Too little? .. @Gillie1

Don't be so sure. I've had days where if I could even manage to brush my teeth, I succeeded. And I've needed to frame little things that way at times and claim them.

Still do!

Remember that quote by van Gough? Something about there are no great things, only small things strung together, or something like that...

Re: Too soon.

There is a time and place for wallowing and if I wallow I need to express it fully. My interpretation of that quote sounds like wallowing too I know but it is my reality for today. I have a T-shirt that I wear just for me that says "Suck it up Buttercup" which sounds like a harsh thing to tell yourself and if you mean it in a self-critical way it is.

For me, it's a cheeky reminder that while life can be really really shit, Dark times happen, Sometimes I need to sit and take stock or just wallow in my existential crisis and that's ok. But when it's time, I'll need to suck it up and try again. That isn't happening tomorrow but part of now is preparing myself for that. Talking to myself like it will happen, setting up that expectation. It's no longer an if but a when. It makes the infinite finite. The impossible, plausible and I can try and fail because I know the next day I can suck it up and try again.

Re: Too soon.

We should start a quote-off thread. Points scored for aptness helpfulness and cheesiness 10 points each. LOL sorry to me quotes are a way of expressing concepts that I don't have my own words for. And yes I do like yours.

Sounds like you're made of strong stuff! @Gillie1

But I've heard that pearls are made in such a way, too: a lot of grit and grind...

How about you? How is your wallowing going? I'm talking a lot.

Re: Too soon.

As the saying goes: "time and patience turns mulberry leaves to silk"

In regards to my wallowing, call me a worm. 🥴

Re: Too soon.

Silkworms can work away and spin a beautiful cocoon to nurture and support themselves as they change, I like that. What's left over can be spun into silk to enrich the lives of others. That can be beautiful, we all need our cocoon at times to curl up and feel safe and nurtured as we go through the painful metamorphosis needed to develop wings.

Re: Too soon.

So true @Gillie1

Reminds me of a story...

There was a small child who came across a moth struggling to break free from its chrysalis. Witnessing such hardship the child was filled with compassion and sympathy. She reached down and gave the moth a helping tug free.

Yet, in so doing, she had condemned the creature. For she had robbed it of the opportunity to develop the strength needed to fly...

Sometimes, kindness kills.

Re: Too soon.

There's truth in that when we see those in pain there's sometimes something in us that wants to fix things. While it's powerful to walk alongside someone, or just sit with them where they are when you can, you can't take away their struggles. Life doesn't work like that and when you try you often disempower the both of you.
