“Discouraged/Self-Destructive” BPD Advice

“Discouraged/Self-Destructive” BPD Advice

Hi SANE forumites,

I know the BPD subtypes aren’t formally recognised but does anyone with the “discouraged” or “self-destructive” subtype have any advice for how cope when you feel like you don’t deserve something and self-sabotage by getting overwhelmed/stuck and not doing anything? I’m currently struggling with this at work and I think it might be me subconsciously trying to self-sabotage because I don’t deserve my job, but it’s not helpful to my coworkers for me to be paralysed and unable to do anything and I don’t want to do that to them. I’ve tried all the normal “break it down” “set a timer” “beat myself up” and nothing is working. Any ideas?

Re: “Discouraged/Self-Destructive” BPD Advice

Hey there. Sorry to hear this. If I were in your position at work I'd remind myself of who I truly am. Like say in the morning when I get up, I would tell myself I am worthy of love and of being loved. I would also remind myself that having this behaviour doesn't define who I am as a person.

I hope this helps you.

Godbless! 🙂
