feeling agitated. am I headed for another episode?

feeling agitated. am I headed for another episode?

I recently stopped taking my antipsychotic medication and now believe I'm suffering the consequences of such. I had it in my head I didn't really need them anymore after having an intense dream where I was told by my psychiatrist that I really didn't have a mental illness.

Now, even though I have restarted my meds, I feel really agitated. I'm scared I'm going to have another episode of psychosis and wind up in hospital again.

I'm heading away for a few days with my girlfriend to the beach. I just hope everything will be ok.

That's OK @Queenie

I've certainly done the same consequences. Try to put your fears aside because this will only exacerbate the agitation. I'm pleased you've started taking the antipsychotic again. Remember that your injection will still be protecting you to a certain degree.

It will take a few days for your antipsychotic to reach a therapeutic level in the blood stream. Can you remember to do some slow diaphragmatic breathing as this should ease some of the agitation slightly. I have found that I needed to write myself reminder notes which I stuck all over the house. By the bed, on the loo door, fridge door, in the middle of the tv screen. It helped me heaps.

Best to contact the pdoc and fess up. It's possible the doc will recommend a heavier dosage for a week or so but do check first OK?

Don't be hard on yourself. Just do your best to accept what is and take whatever remedial action your doc advises.

Take care lass. I'll walk this road with you 🎶💕

Hi @Queenie,

So sorry to hear you are feeling like this, I agree with Kurra, try to be calm and do some things that take your mind off that dream and wait it out for the medication to do it's thing and settle in.

Prehaps going away to the beach might help to relax you and put some new thoughts through your mind as the environment is new.

If you feel like it's really bad maybe give your Psych a call and discuss your symptoms just to be sure.

Take care of yourself, keep us updated.

@Queenie. It might take a few more days or so, for the meds to kick in.
Until then - what are your normal coping tools when dealing with anxiety. Do you have a comfort box? Be sure to take that with you on your holiday.
Anxiety - worrying about something that may or may not happen. It's a tough one to deal with sometimes. But if you can try and refocus your attention to just this minute in time, or the next 20 minutes while you clean the kitchen or water the pot plants.
When you get to the beach - you may find it easier to stay in the moment. Watching the sea birds. Listening to the waves. Feeling the sun and breeze on your skin. Smelling the salt air. Just one moment at a time.
When are you heading off for the beach? Friday or Saturday - for the long weekend?
I think you will have a fantastic time.
Sending you my best wishes

Hello everyone, I just got back from my few days at the beach. I fessed up to my psychiatrist about what I did and although he put his disappointed voice on, he didn't change anything. I'm doing much better than I was and feel a lot less stressed than I was beforehand which is a good thing.

Nowit's back to the real world!
