anxiety

Hello I am not coping with anxiety at the moment. I have been diagnosed with delusional/ schizophrenia since 2008 . Since Jan this year i stopped seeing my psychiatrist. I was sick and tired of being with

mental health services which in my case exacerbated my illness. I have been coping alright without

medication until recently. i have tried to go out and mingle more but i have found that it is causing me

extreme anxiety. I am divorced with 3 adult chilren and live with my dog and stay at home most days even
though i find this extremely boring and unfulfilling so that is why im trying to get out more. I guess im

upset because last week i tried to go to a yoga class and i just could not handle going there by myself

and im trying to be "normal" but its just not working. I get anxious just leaving the house to take my dog

for a walk. I never used to be like this. When my grown children were younger i didnt have a problem

and could do anything. Now i just stay at home which is making me ill.

Hello there Lunar, thank you for your kind words. I feel much better today and i think your suggestion

of myabe seeing a counsellor would be a good idea. Ive seen heaps over the years and ive never

really benefited from it.i might try again because i dont want to end up in hospital.

I had two admissions last year, which was a shit year for me so im trying to prevent going into

hosptial again.

Hi @snickers. I just discovered your post. I'm so glad to hear you saw your gp and that you have started on the meds. Can take a while for them to kick in. So keep posting here or join in other posts. It's good to be able to share our struggles. Or just to have a friendly chat.
I pretty much just wanted to say hi.

@snickers. It's a supportive, non judgemental group of people on this forum. You will always have someone around to talk with and people who have similar experiences as yours.
You may like to have a look at the Beer Garden - it's a post where people just hang out and chat & it's a nice place to meet other members. Just jump right in and introduce yourself. You will be absorbed into the group straight away.
I'm heading up to the mountains now to sit and breathe and reflect and relax.
Hopefully I'll talk to you later

Re: anxiety

Dear @snickers

How are you ? I've noticed that @Mazarita has been reading your thread.....how interesting because she has helped me through my very nigh anxiety.

The other day, an old school friend, someone I havent seen for over 30 years gave me a bottle of wine and because of facebook and she knows what I've been through, she says, I don't know if I should give this to you because of your medication....

I had to take a deep deep breathe and feel my feet on the ground.

After a little while I focused on being a very proud person that I have spoken of being on medication.

Re: anxiety

Hi Peppipatty, Im doing ok i guess. Having anxiety is not the best feeling in the world.

You mentioned that you have anxiety. How do you cope with yours? Im using a bit of

my anxiety medication, and sometimes I will have a drink or two, but its not a good idea to mix with

medication. I had problems with my mental health nurse and psyciatrist last year because i

was drinking alcohol on top of my medication. But it was not heavy drinking, just only to relax. Having said that i had episodes of calling the ambulance all the time due to feeling unwell from the after effects of having a drink on top of anti psychotics, even though i was only ddrinking low alchol volume.

Re: anxiety

Hi @snickers

That Makes me so annoyed and angry when health care nurses and Psychiatrists and chucking mood swings on a couple of drinks.

It's not fair. YOu will work it out to suit you. Not them.

But try not to be quilty about it. Remember at the end of the day the caring for you needs to come from you and it's not going to happen if you are feeling guilty.

I used to eat everything in sight when my son was really really ill and I was chubba dubba of the century when he got better. On my own volition, I got a lap band because I can't get out of the routine.

ACtually, maybe you can replace somthing instead of drinking?? I dont know. How about listeniong to your favourite band? I think my favourite song is 'Comfortably Numb,' sung by Van Morrison because I can so identify with it.

What did I do to ally anxiety;

have short term relationships with men.

Become like a victim in how men like my Dad treated me so he told me to sell my home and I did.

Self involved.

Found it really difficult to focus on things.

Ille have a think and get back to you.

I take Huge amount of meds now.
