Something’s not right

OCD and intuition

OCD and intuition

Hi there, I need some support. Three months ago I left a narcissistic relationship and it has since affected my health. I get sick easier, I'm less happy and more anxious and worst of all, I have these obsessive, ruminating thoughts that honestly leave my paralysed. I'm all about being the best person I can be so if I feel like someone's not good for me and "just not right" then I'm freak out. Its affecting my quality of life and my relationships and with it accompanying feelings of doom and dread if I don't follow through. I have these gut feelings nagging at me and I feel like I cant trust them because I can't tell if it's anxiety or not. It's horrible. I can elaborate if needed. However, these nagging thoughts and feelings that "something needs to change right away" are ruining my life. I don't know how to get out of it, I want these feelings to leave and I just want to live without feeling like my stomach is nagging at me for no logical reason. This all started during my narcissistic relationship however has turned septic and is ruining my life because that intuition was right one time with no proof.

Hey @Confused4 ,

Welcome to the forums! Thank you for sharing.

I can see you are sitting with a lot at the moment.

Have you spoken to your GP about what has been happening? Also, do you have supports you can speak to?

I remember I was also once in a similar space. By connecting with others who had similar experiences, I was able to feels a sense of belonging - and therefore, less alone.

I hope you will also be able to connect with others on the forums here.

Speak soon, tyme

Re: OCD and intuition

Hey 🙂 , sometimes we just don't feel right and yeh sure there's probably a high chance that there could be something in particular that isn't sitting well with you inside and the stress from that is a contributor but often when we are at such an internally messy and screwed up state inside that we really aren't in the best form to even start tackling problems etc - my only advice is to perhaps pay actual attention to how your stress manifests itself and how it is effecting you both in the physical way and also in the mental / psychological way , once you've established what it is that is been effected by it you can begin to work on alleviating these somewhat "symptoms" and once you tackle some of them a bit and begin to function better yourself things will become better in life coz your ability to deal with problems etc will increase as well as your ability to do a bunch of other stuff too which may benefit you and your life - it's so important to get the basics in order so it's obviously things like your accommodation , your health which includes physical fitness and diet as well as whats going on upstairs , your relationships with others which is obviously friends and fam but does actually exceed even further out to those you may not be as directly connected to but are still impacted by you and your actions in some way , then of course there is your self and the importance of how it operates and how to it performs in order for you to access what you want to from your life etc , for example. If say you recognised faults in the way you verbally communicate with other people and realise that whatever's behind that part of yourself must need some work done to it in order to improve .. or if your self for example is mentally not coping due to emotions felt over something then you may not be able to change the cause of your fault but you may be able to work on yourself in order for it to no longer trigger that unhelpful psychological response to whatever it is , and this in turn leads to a change (hoping positive) in your behaviour which should also help you operate life better and decrease your chances of perhaps contributing to problems coz now you're better equipped for things - you don't have to work on everything at once and it doesn't have to be this pressured all or nothing approach to it at all either , the main point is to make sure you remain aware of the things that you've found to be detrimental to you and things about your life and your self which may be contributing negatively into things and to then always keep in mind that although you do not have control over much else in this world apart from what you do , that at least with that control you have the potential to work with what's Infront of you in order to change things , there's some things that you will be able to change totally and rapidly and other things that you can't but at least you can have a go with it and do what you can - it's important to stay aware of what you do have control over coz really you might be surprised by how much you can correct these negative aspects in your life and crucial it is for you to not just go with the flow and take what comes but to actually make good things happen for yourself or allow for them to happen by eliminating the things that could block them from you and by eliminating whatever barriers you can which are between you and your happiness etc - sorry that I have kinda rambled on a bit with my response but I was trying to make a point which i hope that I have , and all the best with things , I sincerely hope that things go your way for you and that you get past this difficult phase in your life sooner than later , take care X
