New life

New life

Hi all

I know I’ve been mia lately but am finally in the new digs and settling in. Still trying to kick the alcohol but some days are really hard. I’m trying as best I can. My flatmate is a narcissist but better the devil you know. Finding my anger is growing now which I haven’t felt in a long time. Hoping to pick up one more shift per week in the new year.

The new place is small but lovely and I don’t have to share a bathroom yay.

Hoping everyone is doing ok and that you all have a lovely Christmas.

Re: New life

Hey @Sirine

Thank you for the update on your life! I am glad that your new place is bringing you a better space and some privacy, as well as some comfort. I hope that you are having a nice end of year time and spending it with some good people. Thank you also for sharing your progress with alcohol. You sound like you are doing really well, it is okay that some days are harder than others, that's only natural! How are you coping with your anger? Do you have or need any support with this, or is it something that you feel you have under control?

All the best,

Amber22

Re: New life

@amber22 @Hi hun thank you for your feedback. I’m ok I think I just had a bad day where everything just ticked me off. Since I have been properly medicated I very rarely get angry but it is something I will bring up with my therapist when I see her.

Living with an alcoholic is really difficult but also shows me what I don’t want to be. I expect there to be more slip ups until I get it right but won’t beat myself up for it and will just keep moving forward.

wishing you a merry Christmas and happy new year 🥳

Re: New life

That sounds like a great idea to bring it up with your therapist, I am glad that you are speaking to someone and getting regular help when you need @Sirine

Living with an alcoholic must have its moments, but that is really great that you are seeing it as inspiration as to what you don't want to be. That is a silver-lining way of looking at it that I hadn't thought of before. There will be slip ups, but as long as you are safe it is okay, no one is perfect as long as you are trying your hardest (which I can tell that you are).

Thank you, I hope you have a Merry Christmas too, and a Happy New Year.

Looking forward to chatting more on the forums with you,

Amber22
