loneliness and isolation

loneliness and isolation

recovery To all those out there who are feeling lonely and isolated, please remember that it doesn't have to be a time for sadness or melancholy. I too have felt lonely and isolated throughout my life, however I have overcome feeling lonely and isolated by pursuing the things in life that are important to me. loneliness and isolation is an excellent time to reflect and meditate on life, mainly your own life. If you have disconnected with family or friends or just cant find a social outlet ask yourself has my illness caused me to be disconnected ? Please remember that people cant or wont want to associate with you if you let your illness interfere with your relationships or life in general. I cannot reiterate enough how important it is to forget you have an illness. In my experience people cant or don't want to try to understand what you are going through. This is because they don't know what you are going through. Life can still be wonderful without friends. As I tell you to forget that you have an illness you must also forget and dispel feelings of loneliness and isolation. Please remember that ruminating on your illness or loneliness is negative. This will only detract people from your life. Stay positive. Focus on the good things in life, especially the nonmaterial aspects of life. I dislike hearing that people are lonely and isolated. Loneliness and isolation is not an illness its only a feeling. Keep the faith.

Re: loneliness and isolation

hey there, thank you so much for sharing what has worked for you in your recovery! From your posts over the last few weeks, I can tell that you've worked very hard at it. I think it's very positive to try to show gratitude for the positive things in life.

I also just want to acknowledge that different things work for different people. And for many people, their feelings of isolation and loneliness are real feelings they want to express and want support on. Maybe feelings which can't be thought away. And that's ok!

On the forums, we try to accept people as they are and support them in any feelings they may be having ❤️

Re: loneliness and isolation

@Former-Member Hello tuxedocat. Thank you for your positive comments. Yes it is OK for feelings of loneliness and isolation to not be thought away. Its true we all have our own ways of dealing with MH issues, after all we are all individuals guided in an individual way. I suppose I am trying to help people understand what they are going through. I hope this is not an imposition, however it is how I wish to contribute. For myself my personal healing has been an integral part of my recovery. I will definitely take in what you have told me. We all have a path to healing available to us all. It saddens me to hear that people are experiencing negative feelings. I hope that happiness and joy can be achieved by all who experience MH issues. I have been in dark places before. I know what it is like. I do practice empathy. I do understand. Most importantly I wish for people to overcome their issues. I will do as you have said, support people who are experiencing MH issues. I just hope that the way I choose to support people is accepted. Thank you for your comments. Your words have definitely given me something to think about.

Kind Regards

Wordman.
