Something’s not right

Alarm bells are going off but I can't find the fire

Alarm bells are going off but I can't find the fire

Hi Ill start off the bat with: I have problems with bi-polar with psychosis features.

Something is not right and I feel like I've been a bit "loopey" now for several days but not enough to stop day-to-day living, if that makes sense.

Idk I have been experiencing heightened emotions (I think mostly positive, but with regular crashes) which has made me struggle with things like playing games or keeping a conversation. And honestly I am struggling to find joy, except when I'm feeling out of control of myself, but also I still feel in control. Argh idk what's wrong it feels like all the alarm bells are going off and I can't tell what's wrong or how to fix it like I'm normal enough most the time (? I think) but also I also feel loopy a lot. Far out idk my memory is struggling I feel like I barely understand what is happening in this moment...

Bottom line is idk what my problem is, what to do or who to talk to. Am I just making this all up?

Hi @it_is_Cold

You have just described my last week perfectly!!! I don’t have the psychosis thought.

Do you have a treating team? I spoke to my MH nurse about it then 2 days later she got me in to see the psychiatrist

Im not much help but just know I completely understand what you are saying.

I have a telehealth psychologist which I get appointments with about once a month. But no one else. I live in a rural area with stuff all support.

But it is nice to hear I'm not alone

@it_is_Cold hey welcome to the forums, sorry to hear you're going through such a strange and stressful time right now.

First off, if you want to tag someone (so that they get a notification that you've replied), use the @ symbol to bring a drop down list of people who posted in the thread recently (or you can type their name and select it from the list). Then their name shows up in blue - and @Captain24 will know you replied 😊 If you're ever having a rough time or you want the moderators to know about something, you can tag the @moderator in the same way.

Secondly, I really doubt you're making it up! Sometimes it can be something totally irrelevant or insignificant that can set our system into overdrive. Has anything changed for you lately? Do you have any close supports, like friends or family or mental health professionals you can chat to?

If you do need someone to talk to, you can always give the counsellors at SANE a buzz, they're open Mon-Fri 10am-10pm and you can call em on 1800 187 263, they're super kind and understanding.

Hope you can find what you're looking for here, this community is a real solid bunch 😊

You are definitely not alone!

I live rural to @it_is_Cold. So most of my psychiatrist appointments are Telehealth.

My GP is fantastic and referred me to the Mental Health team at the local hospital and from there is where I get all my assistance. I don’t know how small the place is where you live but is that an option? where I live is about 10 000 people. 1 1/2 to 2 hrs to the closest large towns and 4hrs to Sydney.

Just a handy forum tip if you put @ a drop down box will appear and you can tag members so they get notifications of your response @it_is_Cold

Re: Alarm bells are going off but I can't find the fire

@Jynx thank you.

I know I'm going through changes, I've gotten married recently, I'm moving house, work is going on to a new year and I'll be working in different areas.

But it doesn't seem like these are things that should be setting off my mental health.

I do have my partner to talk to but my brain is struggling to believe I'm not taking too much of a toll on him. I am waaay too dependent on him

@BPDSurvivor I'm struggling to find interests atm.
I usually like gaming but without being able to think straight its too hard to play. Right now my brain likes music and drinking

Re: Alarm bells are going off but I can't find the fire

@Captain24 although we do have a hospital we don't really have a mental health team. It has 1 psychiatrist that is widely known for being "incompetent " to put it lightly.

I have seen him once in the past. I dont actually know what he does, he goes by a "medical model of practice " so can't help me even source counselling, and doesn't like giving medication...
