Here is to a positive new week ahead
Good morning everyone,
Next week is going to be a very busy week for me. But it will be a very good kind of busy indeed. Next week I will be doing some of the following things (and you are welcome to borrow some of my ideas) to take care of my mental health:
1. Going for a walk to the beach.
2. Eating two pieces of fruit.
3. Getting into bed before 10PM.
I am currently reading a book called Minding your Mind: Understanding Your Mind - Taking Control of Your Mental Health. This book is by Ian Hickie, and James O'Loghlin. I want to share an excellent quote with you, this quote particularly resonated with me, especially given some of the things that are going on in my life right now:
“As Adults, we generally become more independent and autonomous. We are more likely to be able to decide, ‘Actually, I don’t want to fit in with that group. Trying to be like them is not making me happy or content.’ Ultimately, we realise we have preferences and choice, but this can be a long and complicated process for humans. The more autonomy we have, the more important it is for us to keep learning about ourselves: What makes us happy? What makes us unhappy? What groups do we feel comfortable, and uncomfortable, in? Who do we like being around? Who do we find it difficult to relax with? What are the things we will not compromise on? The more we know, the better decisions we can make.”
