Family separation

Family separation

@ l am really struggling again today due to the recent separation from my family. I just keep turn into a blubbering mess l feel no one can help me sort out the issues because my wife and kids still don't speak and l have no social networks or others to talk to apart from counselling and doctors etc.. Because of all of the horrible things that have happened to me in the last few months l just blame myself for the problems my ex created. It's so long since l have felt affection and love. It hurts when even my kids want nothing to do with me.

Re: Family separation

Hi @Former-Member

Thank you for reaching out here on the Forums!

Separation from family and relationship breakdowns can leave us feeling isolated and can cause ruminating thoughts. It's hard to place the blame on ourselves when this doesn't work out and we are left feeling like this. Though remember that it takes two people to have a relationship so both parties contribute to how things turn out. I also have had similar thoughts and emotions about relationships and was reliant on professional supports as my only contact for some time.

The Forums are a great place to connect with other people and share experiences and gain understanding. Perhaps find some discussions and create some connections with peers! We also have the Guided Service program here at SANE where you can build a relationship with a Peer Support Worker who has their own personal experiences with MH and other life challenges.

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!

Take care

RiverSeal

Re: Family separation

Thanks @RiverSeal . I have spoken about my recent struggles here . I need some social contacts with others as l have always had my kids or wife to lean on but when it all of a sudden falls apart without warning it knocks you down and sometimes you don't think you will ever recover.

Re: Family separation

@Former-Member You are showing resilience and the ability to reach out so you just need to figure out how you apply that to creating social connections. It can take time but small steps can be rewarding and lead to bigger things. Take care, RiverSeal
