Psychologist

Psychologist

Hi everyone, @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Peregrinefalcon @Jynx @PossumSocks @NatureLover

Hope your all well.

I’ve just had the worst start to my week yesterday I found out that I can’t see my psychologist anymore as she is moving on to another job at the uni. I have a psychologist I’ve been doing a cognitive assessment with so hopefully I can see him. I have an appointment with both of them on Thursday so I’ll find out what going to happen. I can’t believe this has happened though like I’m happy she has got a new job. I just feel a bit sad about it knowing how hard it is to open up to people and to have to go through that again is just annoying. Anyway thanks for letting me vent I needed this.

Hey everyone

How are you all going tonight? @tyme @Former-Member @Former-Member @FloatingFeather @NatureLover @Shaz51

My week just loves to get better and better.

I’ve been trying to talk to my mum today about my depression but she just doesn’t understand it and I try and tell her and she comes back and says that everyone is sad sometimes and that I’m not actually depressed. That there are different levels of sadness and how can I be that sad to be depressed. I told her how I don’t enjoy things but she just didn’t get that as well.

She also thinks it’s her fault and made it about her. If she can’t even understand this how am I supposed to tell that I’m suicidal and self harm. She is even getting annoyed how I’m talking to other people because I don’t want to talk to her but how am I supposed to talk to her if she doesn’t even understand in the first place.

Hope you all don’t mind me venting I just need to get it out. Why does everything this week just keep going downhill for me. This week has just sucked big time I’m feel pretty shit today I just don’t know what to do anymore.

Thanks

Hi @Birdofparadise8

Thank you for reaching out to the Forums!

I hear you when you mention your mother not understanding depression and making it about her. It can be challenging to find the support we need sometimes in our family. It is a safe space here on the Forums to find understanding in shared experiences with your peers.

You mentioned that you don't know what to do anymore, and I was wondering if you might be able to do what has worked for you in the past. Sometimes we just need to repeat what works to get through the day and keep us safe for now. Are you feeling safe now? Or do you feel like you might need some support or have a look at a safety plan?

Definitely don't mind you venting tonight. The Forums are a safe space for emotions and thoughts to be shared with others!

I'm happy to sit with you for a while tonight.

Take care

Re: Psychologist

Hey @RiverSeal

No matter what I do nothing seems to work. I just can’t escape my thoughts they are just so continuous I can’t even stay away from them when I go to sleep. I don’t know what I need right now but I do have a safely plan but even that’s not much help.

Thanks

Re: Psychologist

Hey @Birdofparadise8

I have experienced years of unwanted thoughts and unhelpful rumination so understand how impacting that can be. The challenging part is stopping it from happening and knowing what to do about it. I do feel that speaking with someone and talking about it can help over time but won't necessarily take it away straight away.

We have the Guided Servies program here at SANE where you can connect with one of our Peer Support Workers. We all have Live Experiences with our own MH and other life challenges. Creating a relationship where you can build trust and open up about your thoughts is a good place to start in my experience. Have you thought about something like that to help with how you feel?

Regards, RiverSeal

Re: Psychologist

Hey @RiverSeal

I have actually just started the guided service so it will be interesting to see what happens.

I just feel like I don’t have anyone to talk to if you look at other post there stuff there about my cousin and how she wants boundaries and doesn’t want to talk to me. Then I cant openly talk to my mum. Also my psychologist is leaving me as well as she has got another job.

I have been meditating for about a month now but the past week it just doesn’t seem to be helping. Well I do have an auntie I can talk to but I was talking to her last night and the night before so I don’t want to burden her too much with everything. I just feel so empty inside and there no where to turn.
