Workplace bullying

Workplace bullying

Hi, I'm suffering terribly from anxiety due to workplace bullying. I can hardly stand it anymore but I need my job. I ruminate on going to work the next day every night... it's ruining my life. Can anyone relate?

@Workbullying a fish rots from the head down.

I found this BBC report from 2011 Teachers 'bully other teachers'

Teachers 'bully other teachers' - BBC News

Seven years is quite long enough to have your humanity consistently besieged. Bringing this matter to the Board of Education (or whatever it is called these days) could be your next writing assignment.

"You own everything that has ever happened to you.
Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly
about them, they should have behaved better". - Anne Lamott

P.S. And another link that is closer to home (NSW) and more recent that was published in The Education Review in 2018

‘The whole process is designed to break you’: bullied NSW teachers claim they’re officially silenced | Education Review

Oof, bonus @Workbullying Embedded in the comments to the Education Review link is mention of Australian Teachers Support Group that are on Facebook

Are you a teacher or support staff member who has been targeted by a workplace bully? We can help.

They sound like the duck's nuts ...

Re: Workplace bullying

@Workbullying

Known a lot of teachers and yes bullying among staff happens. The person I have current struggle with is female and an ex school bursar, she informed me.

I am female but tbh female bullying cultures pushed me to be a bit of a tomboy when young, and made it hard for me to identify with the whole sex in generalities. So I went the maths/science way. That issue was still prevalent for me when I joined this forum 7 years ago. I am getting over it and picking and choosing my female friends but learning to stand my ground rather than always submit.

My teaching has always been private as I have physical issues and did not feel safe in the hurly burly of classrooms.

@Jo-anneJoy Thank you so much for those wonderful articles and resources! They're very helpful. It's a terrible situation and hard to believe it's allowed to go on actually. Thanks again.

Re: Workplace bullying

@Appleblossom Thanks for sharing! It's really good to know I'm not the only one. I can still hardly believe I've become the target for this type of thing... it is a real thing that's happening and something that needs to be talked about and combatted more openly. I think the silence around it allows it to continue. Women have such a hard time already as it is without being attacked by other women subtly and over long periods of time. Thanks again x
