Depressed

Depressed

I used to think of myself as this happy easy going person to be around and to speak to and I used to enjoy anything outdoors as long as I was always active this was up until the morning my wife had passed away I began to change and I very much started noticing the changes I became withdrawn from absolutely everyone I would sit in my apartment all day everyday just sobbing and talking to myself I knew I was becoming more and more depressed and still to this day 4 years after my wifes death I still struggle like it was just yesterday and I cannot come to terms with it I cannot accept it it's so difficult I feel like I am the blame, I am the reason she is not with us. My mental health is not getting better it is rapidly declining I'm afraid of what I will end up doing to ease this pain I am genuinely afraid I'm just so tired.

Re: Depressed

Hi @Grim-sleeper ,

I can hear that you're processing some really tricky emotions at the moment and struggling with feelings of grief and feeling hard on yourself. It's so great that you are here on the Boards chatting about all of it as you don't have to go through this alone and we want to support you through this. It can be particularly tough to manage the urge to SH as well, but we do want you to know you’re in good hands here with our entire community supporting you. Could you call Lifeline for a chat as you need today, I just encourage you to ring out to them or get them on chat on their website if you need urgent assistance today, or you can call SCBS (Suicide Calll Back Service) also. Just a friendly reminder those options are there and we’d encourage you to get in touch with someone if you are worried about your immediate safety, or please phone 000 if you feel you are in immediate danger.

Your safety is paramount and very important, and want you to know we are sitting with you in this time.

Warmest regards and gratitude,

Otter

I'm wondering if you have any professional support for your depression and grief? Like a counsellor, meds, a psychologist or psychiatrist?

If you want to tag someone here to make sure they see your reply, just put a @ in front of their name and click on their name in the drop-down box.

I hope you find the forums supportive...

Re: Depressed

@Grim-sleeper Thank you for sharing your experience and feeling. Grief can impact us in many ways, depression is very common. When I was grieving the loss oy my mother and also three friends a few years ago, I had a counsellor sharing with my the Four Seasons Of Grief, which helped a bit, especially in understanding the phases.

Also, grief can take a long time to heal from.

I discovered recently that Anderson Cooper (the CNN guy), has developed a podcast about grief. That might be helpful, plus also seeing a grief counsellor.
