Wild Iatrogenic abuse

Wild Iatrogenic abuse

Hello everyone

15 years ago i was healthy and gorgeous young girl and i came into contact with the mental health system for no good reason, and they put me on a really strong level of antipsychotics which caused my schizophrenia. There was no pre existing or underlying condition. The whole thing was caused by the medication.

What most people dont know is that the medication used to treat schizophrenia actually causes schizophrenia. The medication is so so so so addictive, and even when there is an underlying condition, the withdrawl of the medication is 10000 times worse and the withdrawl gets treated as an illness. Antipsychotic withdrawl in a healthy person, is profound and the system treats it is an underlying condition.

The doctors wanted to make me sick because i was far more attractive and healthy than they were. And it is JUST disgusting. My theory is, doctora want people to be healthy, they just dont want people to be healthier than themsleves. Aint that the truth .

Furthermore, i went on to experience many harsh procedures and lines of treatment after the illness was initially caused. They have tried to break me emotionally, because my personality was really good. I was the most social, emotional, normal, and friendly out of all my friends and family, yet i was the one that got put on all the pharmaceuticals. And it is JUST disgusting.

I think they are now doing a form of primal scream therapy on me, dont remember what its called exactly, but it has a clinical name. But there is no point because i always had heaps of friends and was great at maintaining healthy inter personal relationships.

If any of my doctors, case managers, or nurses had have been put on the pharma, the same thing would have happened to them. They would have become extremely unwell.

The medical system is like dancing with the devil, thats all i have to say. It only wants to make healthy people sick. That person with the twinkle in the eye, that was me. And now for the rest of my life i will cry.

@Iatrogenic-doom Hi and welcome to the forums. I'm one of the Community Managers and I wanted to stop by to provide some support and validation. It really sounds like you have had an absolutely awful time moving through the mental health system, which has had profound impacts on your life that cannot be reversed.

You have really honed in on some of the key issues that plague the system - in my eyes it is particularly the 'one-size-fits-all' approach that has been a huge factor in your experiences.

I have a friend who was diagnosed with psychosis who spoke to me about her experiences and it gave me a unique insight - she said that once she found out, she decided that medication would be a last resort and that she would explore as many other treatment possibilities as she could first. As a result, she came to the conclusion that her voices were most often actually reflections of her deepest fears and by confronting the fear, she was able to mediate the severity of the impact on her day to day.

I'm not saying this is the only way to approach psychotic symptoms - but therein lies my exact point. There is no one size fits all treatment for psychosis or schizophrenia. So legitimately, medication is not always the best treatment for everyone. There are of course a lot of people for whom antipsychotics are a literal life-saver, and this shows that medication should continue to be an available treatment option for all who need it. But perhaps individuals should also be able to look for a treatment path that feels right for them.

Like all of us humans, folks in the mental health field are only doing the best they can with what they've got. Sometimes that means that with no other pathways available, folks are going to follow policy and practice - especially when those treatments do work for many people. I don't think that it's because they don't want others to be healthier than themselves, but simply (and perhaps more sadly) because they literally don't know what else to do.

I hear your grief for the life you have lost. I want you to know that your experiences are valid ones, but I think it is also important to highlight that some of your experiences are not universal. One thing that I do hope, is that by lifting the voices of folks like yourself who have been through the ringer in this way, we can actually start to demonstrate that change in the mental health system is desperately needed. Everyone should have the opportunity to get help, but it needs to be the help they need rather than the help that has been prescribed for them. Whether that is through medication or things like community programmes ought to be a conversation that still provides agency and choice to the person who needs support.

So, I am glad you found us. I hope you find this to be a supportive community where you can share your experiences and connect with others, and I hope that telling your story has positive outcomes for you.

Yes the system is oelnensize fits all but thats hardly the point.

Humans existed for thousands of years before modern medicine exiated and their bodies are not designed to cope with modern medicine. Everything for perfect health can be found in nature and the bodies own immune system. Medical treatment and drugs are just money makers. There is a widely held belief that humans became taller and healthier over time as a result of modern medicine. This is not true. Humans became taller and healthier over time as a result of Evolution Itself. As the amount of time humans have spent on this earth they evolve and the species grows stronger, due to time.

What is happening now is that due to drugs like anti psychotics, a lot of the kids now are being born extrmely small and weak amd scrappy.

The type of things that are happening to innocent people in the system is truly horrendous.

There is no need for Medical intervention of any kind and it is NEVER acceptable.

Yes i was put on drugs and truly horrendous things have happened to me, all because they wanted to make me sick in the first place and it was all a preventable iatrogenic illness in the first place. The real person, the true picture, and the realistic situation were not taken into account.

Modern medicine is never acceptable.

@Iatrogenic-doom I acknowledge that you have been very badly hurt by this system, and it makes sense that you feel so strongly about it. If you haven't been across them already, you might like to have a read through of our Community Guidelines. Within our 'Respect' guideline we ask that "all statements outside your personal experience - for example, about statistics, data, studies or medicine - should have trustworthy sources. Please include a link or reference to the source of the data within your post."

We encourage you to continue to talk about your personal experiences, but ask that you ensure any generalised or absolute statements are supported by evidence.
