Exhausted, numb

Exhausted, numb

Hello,

im in a difficult situation with lots of triggers from ptsd. Disconnected and my anxiety is terrible. My strategies don’t really work. Just counting the days and trying to fight the urges but I’m really tired of it all.

Re: Exhausted, numb

Hey @petrichor ❤️

Just checking in with how you are feeling right now?

It is really tough to be feeling this way, and I don't want you to feel like you are going through this alone. You have all of our support here on the forums.

Are you seeing a mental health professional, or someone that you can talk these triggers out with? If not, there is always the drop in line here at SANE where someone is available to listen to you and provide some support.

Here if the link if you ever feel the need to call: https://www.sane.org/get-support/drop-in-service#:~:text=If%20you%20need%20support%2C%20please,10am%2D10pm%20Monday%20to%20Fridays.&text=How%20can%20we%20support%20you%20right%20now%3F

Sitting with you,

Amber22

Hi @petrichor,

I'm really sorry to read you are feeling this way. Triggers from ptsd sound very difficult. I have had anxiety in the past that has gotten pretty terrible too so I really feel for you around this.

I went through a very difficult time many years ago with my anxiety plus I had severe depression, I remember being really tired too. It did take sometime but along with my professional team and having some good strategies in place things did turn around. Are you able to speak to someone like your GP etc today? Do you have someone that can be home with you as it sounds like a lot to sit with by yourself?

Just in case you ever need immediate support please call:

- LifeLine on 13 11 14

- BeyondBlue on 1300 224 636

- 000 in an emergency

Please take care of yourself and keep reaching out - we are here to support you.

Warm wishes,

FloatingFeather

Re: Exhausted, numb

Hi @FloatingFeather

im glad you’ve found strategies to help. I’ve learnt a lot over the years but it’s been really hard lately. I’m not alone but the people I live with are part of the problem. I don’t have access to professional support at the moment. I’m just not dealing with life well lately. But I try grounding and when I can take some time out. I get sad that after all these years of therapy I still get so low that I don’t want to live. I don’t want to fight anymore. Nights are worst because I can’t sleep and can’t leave my room, not because anyone would physically hurt me but I don’t want to be triggered anymore. I talk to helplines and they help at that time but they can’t make it any different. I think I’ll pull through eventually but the situation won’t change and my past won’t change. I won’t say the rest, I don’t think that’s ok for the forum. But it’s ok, I can only try. Sorry, I want to sound all positive and I know it helps to be positive and grateful. I’m grateful it’s raining, we needed rain.

Re: Exhausted, numb

I hear you and I am sitting with you @petrichor. I know you said that you don't have access to professional support at the moment. Would you like to reach out the the SANE drop-in service that @amber22 mentioned? It's really good that you are reaching out to helplines and posting on the Forums - the good thing about the Forums is that it is 24/7 so whenever you feel you want to post we are here.

There's absolutely nothing to be sorry for - you're a human being going through human emotions. As nice it might be none of us can be positive all the time - I'm sure even the most positive of people have their hard days.

Please take care of yourself and know that we care about you. Reach out anytime.

Re: Exhausted, numb

Hey @petrichor

I also have ptsd and sometimes it’s impossible to avoid the triggers and in trying to avoid them, we can (well in my experience) end up avoiding EVERYTHING. This can be a very lonely and exhausting space.

i’m hanging around the forums tonight if you want to chat. Sending virtual hugs ❤️

Re: Exhausted, numb

@FloatingFeather I tried. I don’t know what to say. Do you ever feel like there’s nothing left to say? There’s just too much to explain and I can’t finish a thought. It’s all a flash and doesn’t make sense. I’ll be ok.

Hi @Former-Member

sorry, I didn’t answer your post. You’re right, it can get very lonely. I’m not supposed to isolate. My thoughts are a bit too fast at the moment to write, but yes you’re right.

sleep well
