Something’s not right

I don't know why I'm anxious.

I don't know why I'm anxious.

I get anxious and I feel like my brain is anxious about something and it isn't telling me what the anxiety is all about. Has anyone else experienced this before?

Welcome to the forums @Trentrecover !

Well done on making your first post. After reading your post, I believe many other members have also felt the same. It is a common thing.

I know for a fact that I have felt that in the past. And the more I tried to work out what the anxiety was about, the more anxious I became!

I hope other members will also be able to share their experiences with you.

Hi @Trentrecover,

Welcome and thankyou for sharing. I also have anxiety and I have found at present focussing on breathing, slowly and deeply during anxiety helps. I did not believe just slowing down and focussing on breath could help me. It did. I find having a distraction gets the anxiety down to normal levels. I also meditate. I'm not sure if your sleep is disturbed by anxiety but if I wake up and can't get back to sleep I start breathing and staying in the moment. I hope some of these strategies may help you. Anxiety can overwhelm and I think that's possibly why you can't determine what triggers your anxiety. I think slowing down the mind and body can help.

Hi there @Trentrecover

Welcome to the forums! Yep, unfortunately, what you describe is a classic sign of anxiety. I remember when my anxiety was bad and I'd explain to my husband the feeling of my brain telling me I'm afraid but in reality, there was nothing to be afraid of. He couldn't understand and I would say unless you've experienced it, you would find it hard to get your head around. Some sessions with a psychologist years ago really helped me to file. I also really like using grounding techniques. Examples of this can be found here.

Hope some of this helps. I find comfort in just knowing others feeling the same as me at times.

Hi @Trentrecover,

Welcome to the Forums - it's nice to have you here.

I know what you mean around feeling anxious but not having a real reason to feel this way. From my experience with anxiety sometimes there is some type of explanation and other times there isn't.

Do you have a GP you feel comfortable talking to about this? Anxiety is a very common issue which I think a lot of people can relate to. One good thing about anxiety is that with the right support it can be very treatable.

Warm regards,

Re: I don't know why I'm anxious.

Hi. I'm '2tired' and new to this site. I've been reading a few of the posts that relate to me & finding quite a few.

I too at times feel anxious for no known reason. I admit to overthinking- especially if I'm not having a bad day. Sometimes I wonder if it's a build up of unresolved issues with life in general.

Little things keep coming at me until it's overwhelming. I see a councillor once a week but I can't seem to follow through with a fair bit of her advice. Too much for here but I'm a YES person, even if I really don't feel well. The more I care for someone the harder it is to say NO. A bit of a ramble here, sorry. I have a lot of health issues but feel I'm letting people down if I can't help them. Then I'll feel anxious till it's done. I shouldn't keep saying yes. Most of the time the person/s asking knows I have both physical & mental problems - doesn't seem to phase them. At the moment life really is just horrible. At times I feel like I can't cope & it frightens me. I'm 64yrs old- feel 84.....

Again it's probably not the way to introduce myself on here, but I can relate to trying to know why I'm anxious when things are going ok. Well ok in bad situation. Take care

Hey @2tired I'm sorry to hear life is horrible at the moment. You sound like a caring person and I hear that you give a lot of yourself to others but who cares for you? You can't pour from an empty cup.

I hope you find some friends here and find you are not alone, perhaps there a lots of people here who share your experiences.

Welcome 💖

Thanks for replying Paperdaisy. I hope I find some nice people on here too. I purposely have very few true friends. I'd pick dogs before humans anytime.

I'm sure I am how I am today for trying to please others & forgetting me....it's a great feeling to help others but not when it becomes expected.

Thanks again 🕊🌺

Hi @2tired ,

You must not forget about yourself. You may be low and I've never found it harder to find any clarity to then. Animal are the true healer happiness and love. You are so right. Please know emptying the soul essence, energy and life in us all to heal someone else's pain can be a great blessing as you will know what you have done for another but your cup should never run dry. I read tarot and the cups suite is so healing emotionally and spiritually don't lose your soul when the person you help drains such ultimate life and leaves you alone and ruined. You must practice protection against others conscious or unconscious psychic draining. I wish you well. Goodnight and take care.

You could make a list of what you like about yourself and read it every day. I just thought of that today...
