Struggling in volatile house
Hello,
Im a 28 year old man and 12 months ago my fiance and i moved in with her parents due to massive rent hikes and to enable us to save for a house. Her parents are extremely volatile and often take out their anger and frustration on the two of us and i am constantly in a state of fight or flight. My instincts say fight but they supposed to be my future inlaws and i dont want my fiance's life to be anymore complicated, so i do nothing. I am now at the point where i no longer feel like myself, i struggle to get out of bed, have constant anxiety, and struggle to interact with people around me. I fear i have alienated myself from my own family and have no one to go to.
It has now begun to impact my relationship with my fiance and i feel like i need to leave, but i dont want to leave her alone with those people. I have spoken with my GP and a psychologist who are telling me im in a domestic violence situation despite there being no physical violence. i never thought i would be in this position. the volatility, manipulation and control is destroying me. Both my gp and psychologist have told me to get out of the house.
But I dont know how to get us both out of this situation or if she will come with me i tried, they are her family after all. So I am left feeling like if i try to get out i will lose everything and am trapped in this situation and dont have anywhere to go.
I am desperate for any guidance.
