Fake it til you make it.

Fake it til you make it.

Hi,

I spent almost 10 years either in.bed or on the couch. Not asleep . Just a depressed zombie. Life in my house , with my husband and kids, went on around me and without me. I see in photos that I was there but I can't recall . Needless to say it spiralled down til I crashed and was hospitalised. Then I was saved. A new psych , tailored meds and every ounce of effort in me , brought me back to life. Then I made decisions to put as much space between that depressed me and me today. I have structure that I stick to. I shower , I groom and wear jewellery every day. I got rid of the old track outfit I lived in and won't wear anything like it again. I try to look my best everyday. Cause when depression had me I didn't care about anything. When it's tough and the routine is almost possible , I do as much as I can. I fake it til I can make it. And no matter how small, I count the positives.. I have lost so much of my life to this illness that I refuse to give it another minute. If I can help it. So do the opposite of what depression tells you , if you can. Fight and celebrate the victories. If I can come back so can you

Hi @JAN5 I can really empathise - I was the same, except mine was 3 years in bed. And same as you - a trip to the hospital resulted in a new psychiatrist and a stronger med from the psychiatrist.

So glad our lives are better now!

That was my mantra too @JAN5 Fake it til you make it…but I spiralled again. I’m on the way up again so thanks for sharing and introducing yourself.
