Welcome and getting started

Depression Anxiety Borderline Personality Disorder Psychosis

Depression Anxiety Borderline Personality Disorder Psychosis

Hello (waves). I'm a 39yo female who's suffered with Depression and Anxiety for about 20 years. Borderline Personality Disorder and Psychosis for less. I've failed uni twice and I can't keep a job. I can't keep friends either. I had given up on therapy for three years and now I've decided to give it a try again because of oversleeping, not eating properly, not showering or brushing my teeth as much as I should. I've decided to pick a therapist who does Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) because I enjoyed the group classes that I went to a while ago. I am joining this support forum in the hopes that I can get some help and hope to continue on, I also hope that sharing my experiences might help someone too. I was recently inspired by an online post about someone dropping out of uni and how they managed the ache of it in later life. Hope to read more inspiring posts from you all.

Hi @Cleo2 !

BPD has been my life forever… it can be painful but it’s also a great teacher. I’ve learnt so much about myself, others and the world I live in.

Even today, I do find relationships challenging… but I’m getting better. I’m learning everyday as I push myself to try things that are uncomfortable for me but that I know are good for me.

We had a Topic Tuesday only this week about BPD. You can read through it here: Topic Tuesday// Borderline Personality Disorder Awareness Week 2022: 'See The Person'// Tues 27th September 2022 7-8:30PM AEST

Yoi can also have a read through Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

I found group therapy the most helpful for me. But unlike you, I hated it. It was so uncomfortable and painful at times. But I’m glad I stuck to it. I did it weekly for at least 18 months. I also had weekly individual therapy. I didn’t do DBT, my therapy was MBT - it has seriously changed my life. I can’t even pinpoint how it works - it just did for me.

All the best @Cleo2 . I look forward to connecting with you!

Hello @BPDSurvivor ,

Thanks for the note of welcome. I have already been looking at some of your posts on those two links that you sent me. I've never heard of MBT so I'll have to research it online.

Take Care.
