Something’s not right

In the middle of nowhere

In the middle of nowhere

Hi,

I’m in the middle of nowhere, remote central Australia. I’ve had a major trigger a few days ago. I don’t often have phone or internet and can’t talk to my professional support.
i don’t like when I feel stuck somewhere away from my safe places. I don’t like when I don’t feel safe in the place where I stay. a lot of what I’ve learnt to make me feel safe in a place doesn’t work anymore. I don’t like when I have to rely on others. I know a lot is from … I don’t even want to say mental illness anymore. I would just like to feel like I’m supposed to feel.
Anyway, how does support work in the middle of nowhere?

Hi @Former-Member

I’m not coping 😞 i don’t think I can do this anymore. If I could just live in a cave or not at all. i can’t deal with people, noise, structures…

Hi @petrichor

It sounds like you’ve been managing incredibly difficult thoughts and feelings in very challenging circumstances. Living remotely with your usual supports so far away is challenging at the best of times. You’re doing well to find ways to connect with others here on the forums and via a helpline. Even if talking didn’t feel so helpful at the time, it shows that you are resourceful and courageous in seeking support when you’re struggling.

Do you think it would help to reach out again today, from the phone box? Sometimes it can take a few goes of talking to help clarify some of the thoughts and feelings in your head; and just having someone sit with you can take some of the alone-ness away.

Or do you think there’s something you can do for yourself to feel a tiny bit better? I can see from your posts that you’ve been through some really tough times on your own in the past. I wonder what it was that helped then…?

Look after yourself today @petrichor and please let us know how you’re doing when you can 💜

And if you do get to the phone box to reach out, here are a few numbers you could try:

SANE Support Centre: 1800 18 7263 (10am-10pm AEST)

Suicide Call Back Service: 1300 659 467 (24/7)

The Samaritans: 135 247 (8am-8pm AWST)

Lifeline: 131 114 (24/7)

In an emergency, call 000

Hi @Former-Member

ok. Thank you. I don’t know what to do. The helplines didn’t want to text with me the last time. I think I’ll have a shower. I’ve missed Telehealth because of reception. I’ll have to figure something out.

Re: In the middle of nowhere

It feels pretty hopeless to reach out.

i just want to be independent again and trust myself. I’m pretty angry with myself. Break the chains. Fly away.

Re: In the middle of nowhere

Hey @petrichor ,

I'm sorry reaching out seems hopeless to you. Can you share you thinking around this?

And yes, recovery is about being independent and being able to trust and love yourself. Let's walk this through together. I'm ready and waiting to sit with you in this.
