No mental health services

No mental health services

My first forum I've used but I feel abandoned by any mental health assistance so I'm just trying to help myself. I have had different diagnoses over the years, but I had a big breakdown during the lockdown and was diagnosed schizoaffective. I was monitored for a year by a psychiatrist but then offloaded to my GP. I'm still on the heavy duty meds. I don't know how long I'm supposed to keep taking the toxic meds and I think since covid the mental health care has deteriorated to the point where it's every man or woman for themselves. Anyway, thanks for listening to my rant.

Re: No mental health services

Thanks for checking in @tyme. i'm seeing my GP today and will ask for support. I'm ok but I've been getting bogged down with negative thoughts about the past which can be all-consuming and takes my energy but I have insight that I need help so I'll ask my doc today. Thanks.

Yes I have noticed this tendency of support services to abandon us, then say its for own good

Not all support services will do this, I hope u do find better support xx

Re: No mental health services

yep, im with you on the state of the mental health care. I've just had a terrible experience with the hospital. local community mental health won't see me because I have a private psychiatrist and have 'too much insight' into my condition. psychiatrist told me he was going overseas for 2.5months but hasn't gone and still wouldn't even speak to me on the phone after knowing I was suicidal.... can't get disability employment services to help me find a job because im studying and obviously students don't need jobs and it's possible to live on Austudy.

ive found these forums really useful to get tips and hear other people's stories, and just to know that however crap the things are that you're going through, chances are someone else on here has been through something similar.

hope you manage to find the answers you are looking for,

Hi, you are not alone. I've just joined too as a way of trying to help myself. I see a psychologist but at $100 a session I can't go often enough. I have been walking around in circles knowing I need help but not having anyone to turn to. I hope you find some super support here.
