Does anyone else feel trapped by life?
Trigger warning: suicide (obviously).
I remember Graham Norton interviewing Anthony Joshua. They were talking about how he was battling for five belts. To get five belts, he had to beat Deonte Wilder.
They put up his picture on the screen and Graham said: Now I look at him, and I think "how bad is four belts?"
That's hilarious, but sometimes I feel like people use that kind of logic with me.
I'm probably one of the most isolated people in the developed world right now.
To imagine a life where someone would love me mutually and want to be with me in particular... a world where I can have my own family, and friends who'll be there for me is so far-fetched right now that it's silly to even think about it.
I was talking to my counsellor about how I've wanted to try online dating, but I've heard so many horror stories. She said:
Don't put your eggs in one basket.
There's a chance you'll never find someone. There's a chance that if you do, it might suck.
Just make sure you know there's more to life than relationships.
I don't want to live in a world where the only memory I have of "love", if you can even call it that, is getting hurt.
It's already been long enough. More than three years? Are you [...] kidding me?
I don't care if I can "be happy" in a solitary life. I'll know deep down that it wasn't my choice. It was because expecting a better life would have driven me to suicide, and that's something no-one is prepared to accept.
Lots of people "want me alive". For what reason, I have no clue whatsoever. But if they knew my situation, they would get it. I've mentioned that idea before.
That's what my Depression tells me anyway. Obviously, that's not how it actually works.
If everyone who could "justify" taking their own lives did so, you would have thousands of people leaving us every week, and that's just not OK.
Also, even if everyone would "get it", it still doesn't help you.
I just hate that I so desperately want to be something to someone, and that it's so inaccessible for me. And not just being "that funny guy from work". I mean making a difference in someone's life.
Apparently I'm not meant for that. I guess I'm supposed to play a different role in the world... I just feel like I'm being forced into that.
