Finding strength

Finding strength

So I’ve ran into a few dozen or so bullies whilst out and about and it got me to breaking point, though I’m still wondering through life not having learnt from my experiences - I’m wondering of ways to find strength to go on, am fine now, but when I wake up in the morning it’s all I seem to think about. Though I see those situations as you win some you lose some - growing up I never had moments like this and it’s got me confused, am I not growing up, have I changed? Etc etc… I’m just wondering how the fellow community if you have experienced something this bizarre are handling these things… Ican go a couple days while I’m working without running into these people but what I found strange was that at a family gathering this little girl went out of her way to nearly spill a glass of drink out of my hand, the next moment I saw her she had a huge smile on her face, that’s when I noticed she did it on purpose, like the countless other people I have run in to whilst out and about. This isn’t normal right? It’s like I have a sticker on my head saying “I’m different”. But that little girl I found out later has problems, but still gives her no right to be a bully…. I don’t know just confused is all here, and finding ways to find strength. Will tag some forums friends to let them know I’m here @TAB @MDT @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Appleblossom @Anastasia @Bill16 @Historylover and anyone else passing by, happy Friday by the way

ahh best to bail out if things dont feel right, then try other places/ dont go out on your own that can make easy target

Re: Finding strength

I've got a sticker on my forehead too, @Former-Member– although sometimes it feels like I'm wearing a billboard. I just can't find out how to remove it. I'll let you know when I do. Stick it out, my friend.

@Historylover @I think it’s just the senses we give off, like somethings not quite right like something going off in our life ie struggles and we’re showing that and not acting like the norm…. Just my 2 cents - and for me it’s always by the same demographics not to be racists or rude, just what I’ve picked up… just need as you said to find a way around it

Re: Finding strength

I've considered that our life experiences are written all over us @Former-Member. This has been my lifelong experience, and all newcomers in my life adapt to my past experiences. I don't seem able to shake it off. I keep trying to change it, but predators abound it seems. In all age groups and ethnicities – but I'm open to finding it is not always so. This would have to be in the quite longer term, though. Anything might seem different for a while but long-lasting would be needed for change to be proveable.

I've been treated like this by my parents, sibs, relatives, spouse, children, ex-psychiatrist, GPs, employers, fellow workers and neighbours. I've seen it as quite widespread, though. I'm not saying we are the only ones this is happening to. Why on earth is this happening? It was this way for my father too, and quite possibly by my paternal grandparents – certainly by both my grandmothers.

It seems to have to do with the structure of social groups and having to take the position others allow us–regardless of our skills and worth.

As you can see, I have pondered this deeply for a very long time and have tried to bring change. I keep trying new things but the more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm bewildered.

It seems there is an established social order and the beneficiaries of the current status quo work to maintain it. They hold our position and won't give it back.

I hope my reply wasn't 'too over the top' for you @Former-Member, but correcting this has been a considerable part of my life's work.

If we can't change our path in life–which clearly isn't working for us–is the purpose of therapists and all of their so-called 'education' merely to prescribe, chat, and maintain the status quo? Is their 'education' just a front for a different life's path?

Re: Finding strength

@Former-Member Is it that we need to be 'assertive', or that others need to learn their place–inclusive of proper manners and respect for all others? That is–a fair go for all and not just for them!

It's not us–it's them!

@Former-Member

Had drink spilled on me accidentally on purpuse too... not on ... for nasty behaviour and some do seem to get away with more than others ...

Some people just open their mouth and are locked up ... others ... are given the dear dear treatment ... its not a level playing field. Love @Historylover discussion ...

Yep ... me too ... with sign on the forehead ... or wherever ...on me ...

Yep I looked at all the training ... when I finally got the time ... tried practising it a bit ...

best I came up with is anthropologist ... predators ... zoom in the vulnerable ...

Its a mad world.

Take Care of you ... as you see fit ...

@Appleblossom @Historylover @@I’m not scared of these low lives to be honest, just wish I wasn’t a target, I think at the end of the day you can just be yourself and try to keep up with the world. As a person with a disability I think that is the reason I’m targeted, though the good people in the world don’t seem to care…. You mentioned @Historylover if it’s them or us… it’s definitely them but I want to live a peaceful life where I can do what I want, and as for your experiences with family, spouse, docs… I am expecting the worst but hoping for the best and keep putting myself out there as suggested by my psych, must see something in me I can’t… I’ve worked 13 years now and see that as my safe passage through life otherwise I’m bound for trouble given my recent experiences and I will fight back, not my illness talking but me, hoping it doesn’t come to that though

You're sounding quite positive @Former-Member. That's so good to read. Just keep brushing ourselves off and getting up again. We can do it. Sending best wishes your way. Things have to get better! And yes, it IS them!!
