Magnet for toxic people

Magnet for toxic people

Hi all, I’m reaching out in hopes of curbing the toxic people - I have schizophrenia and I don’t know if it makes it worse but everywhere I go, I attract toxic people like it or not. Growing up, whenever I was faced with a situation like this I would fight - but now I’ve realised what they do is so minuscule that fighting them is just embarrassing myself only been in about 2-3 fights but…. Recently the amount of toxic people has compounded only after finding the right medication. I’ve found work and found some toxic people there that have already started gaslighting whether we are both aware or not. I’ve got other jobs lined up too but only feel that they’ll be there once I arrive. Have booked an appointment for a psychotherapist to help with handling myself communication wise in these situations. I don’t know what else I really can do to avoid people like this it’s bugging me to a point that I feel like I have nothing to lose so I smile anyway. I don’t know if anyone can relate but that’s where my life is right now. Life is not as it was promised to me growing up. I hope you all are having a better time. Anything helpful at this stage would be greatly appreciated

Thanks @tyme … plus insecurities… like I have insecurities but I don’t project them on other people, know thy enemy lol I guess it is good to know your enemy so you can go about handling them, I’ve got a good idea think they might have a personality disorder that causes them to do what they do …. I need some psychotherapy to better handle myself though, regards to self love, respect etc

True @Former-Member .

What you are saying really reminds me of myself in the past. I got so angry at people because I couldn't handle them.

I had to work very hard with psychotherapy to see eventual change in the way I was able to BEGIN handling being with others who has, I guess, a different way of doing things? It was a long process though. Took a number of years with therapy at least twice a week...

Takes time, patience and perseverance... but totally worth it.
