Fare thee well

Fare thee well

Dear friends,

I joined this virtual space in mid-2015. The friendships, company and help I have found here over the years have been marvelous beyond words. In the early years I was here for hours every day. More recent years have seen me absent a great deal more, even being away for several months or more.

Since about the start of last year I have spent about 85% less time than previously on the internet, computer and mobile. It has been a very positive move in my life, as I am now engaging vastly more with the world beyond the confines of my screens and my home. I am finding this to be greatly rewarding.

At this time I do not see myself returning to the forum in the future, and so I wanted to say a proper fare thee well and huge thank you to friends whose journeys I have shared and who have been there for me along my own road.

No thank you could ever be adequate, especially to those I have been very close to over long stretches of time. But at least there may be some closure in this goodbye, rather than a wondering what happened to me without any resolution at all.

Over almost 7 years on the forum there are so many people I have shared with. For now I will just tag people I have spent most time with and who go back over the years. So please, anyone reading, feel free to tag anyone who my dodgy memory has failed to tag just now. I suspect I'm going to feel like an idiot for missing people from the past several years here.

I plan to come here once a day over the next week for chats. My final visit will be next Sunday 27 Feb at about 6pm, and then I will be on my way.

Big hugs and love to all. ❤️

Re: Fare thee well

Thank you for such lovely responses on my traveling onwards.

@Shaz51, scotirish sister, your presence here on the forum has been and continues to be a blessing to us all. Many return blessings to you always, dear heart. 💚

@MDT yes, true about these times being so very screen-oriented. I've lived about 15 years glued to them in various ways, some worthwhile, others not so much. But here on the forum there is so much benefit to the connections with others going through similar struggles. It brings a unique form of understanding. Onwards and upwards with your work and other aspirations, my friend. It has always made me smile when you call me Mazzo! 🙂

@Zoe7 thank you dearly for your wonderful words, beautiful. Hugs and hugs and hugs to you as well. ❣️

@Appleblossom too much to say about how meaningful the connection with you has been to me over the years. You have seemed to be my twin here, joining within just one day of me at that earlier time when there were so few of us regularly around. Our similar cultural backgrounds in Melbourne have been an additional aspect of our connection and I know we have both wondered at times if we've previously met in offline life. It seems pretty likely at the least that we know or have met some people in common. I know we both went to Bombay Rock! You are so right about how withdrawn from outside life I was when we first met. At that time I couldn't even get myself to go out to check the mail. I'm writing this past midnight as so many of our chats and posts have occurred. Thank you for being there, a sister over all this time, and thank you just for being you. 👩‍❤️‍👩

@Faith-and-Hope a lovely Irish blessing and the same back to you. Your wisdom and compassion was apparent from the start. Wishing you so well as you move through trials and happier times. May the latter be the greater into the future. 💖

Thank you too for your kind wishes @petrichor @Bunniekins @Clawde @Gwynn. 💛

Lots of 💜s @Mazarita It's been such a journey that we've shared oft-times and I think of you often. Both of us have learned to manage so much better in our off-line lives and that's partly a testament to how much the support and understanding we find here in the forums can help. I'm hardly here these days myself, but not ready to withdraw completely. As others have said, you will always be welcomed back if that's what you choose in future.

Go in peace and with love. You're a rare gem and I've really appreciated our connection over the years. Can't quite believe it's been something like 7 or 8 years!! Take good care my friend.

And sending love to all who have commented in this thread too.

Re: Fare thee well

@Mazarita Our late night conversations were life saving for me. In a way we were opposite as I had come to using the net and modern tek late, and it was my first good experience online, so I kept coming back. Being able to process my late adolescence a little was helpful. I only went to Bombay Rock 2-3 times with a gf from work, but it was iconic for Melbourne rock. I also loved you posting about your beach walks, it inspired me to get outside again more. I am going to study again soon and will not be logging onto this site as much. It has been almost daily for a long time. You will remain in my mind with fondness. I am glad you are finding your feet socially and getting a life.

love Apple

@Mazarita I wanted to say a big thank you and farewell from all of the staff, moderators, community managers and peer support workers here at SANE. 7 years is such an incredible amount of time, and you have built such strong supportive relationships and helped so many people in that time!

We will miss you and wish you all the best for this next chapter of your recovery journey

Re: Fare thee well

Hi again all,

@utopia lovely words, thank you so much. Very best wishes to you as you travel forward in your life as well.

@outlander I can't honestly say I'm consistently happy. I still go up and down and regularly have very difficult health obstacles. But I'm finding myself gless extreme in emotions and far less overwired than when I was spending most of my days glued to screens for so many years. I feel the thing that's been helping most of all is spending a great deal more time in nature and steadily increasing how far I can walk. Birds and trees and flowers do not trigger social anxiety in me, nor much raise covid risk, so these regular activities have been great. I wish you the best into the future, lil sis (haven't called you that for quite a long time!) I have enjoyed your company over the years as well.

@eth the huge amount of time we have shared here over the years means so much to me, and I have felt so close to you. The years of this closeness between us has been so heartening. How marvelous it's been to find such a kindred spirit here, and at times when we have both been struggling so hard with similarly crippling symptoms of bipolar. We have seen each other move from place to place and through different phases of our lives. Our in-depth discussions have helped so much, as well as the day to day sharing of small and big things happening. Your intelligence and strong spirit has been so inspiring. Wonderful to hear of you continuing to move onwards in a good way as well. Hugs and love to you, dear friend.

@Appleblossom great to hear of your study plans. May it be rewarding in a big way. I only went to Bombay Rock once myself, but I remember us talking about it at one time, and not so many people talk about Bombay Rock these days! Happy to hear my recounting of beach walks was inspiring to you. It's been developing on from that in a big way that's been so helpful this past year. Thank you again, old friend, for the times we've shared.

@Daisydreamer really appreciate you taking time to wish me a farewell. Well wishes to you in your continued work here, so valuable to many people, and good luck in all future endeavours.
