It's a Female Thing.

It's a Female Thing.

This might be embarrassing for me to talk about. Read at your own risk!

I had a big day yesterday. I saw a Gynecologist and found out what was wrong. Not only I had been emotionally all over the place. My physical body had been also.

I found out I have 3 polyps in my endometrium, which has caused all sorts of problems including my mild mood swings, more pain and dodgy plumbing. When you are so down, sad and trying to get occupied trying to cheer yourself up you forget how everything is connected. My physical health obviously had something to do with how my emotional state came in waves. Up and down like you couldn't make up on your mind what emotion to stick with. I am booked in for some day Surgery on 18th March and I am actually looking forward to it. I am looking forward to feeling a lot better. This could also help me with my drinking problem a lot more. I could be going back to doing the things I love and live better. But who really knows! All I know is that this could be the missing piece to my puzzle. The puzzle that could finally get solved.

Hi @TheJuZShoW and thank you for your courage in sharing your experience- talking about gynaecological issues is so important, and for many people can feel really difficult to do. You are right in saying there is such a strong connection between mental health and our physical health! I am relieved to hear that you were able to see a specialist who can give you an idea of what has been happening for your body, and how that might contribute to how you have been feeling.

I can relate to that relief, and the hope that following a procedure or medical treatment that things will improve or as you said could be that 'missing piece of the puzzle'. So often when things go wrong, I default to attributing how I am feeling to my mental health diagnoses, when sometimes there are also medical issues going on too. I think your post is a very timely reminder to us all that health is holistic, and when things feel like they are going down hill, it's worth getting a physical check up to cover all the bases and possible reasons.

I am holding hope with you that after the procedure you will be feeling a lot better! Do you have supportive people in your life to be around in the lead up or follow up from that procedure?

Re: It's a Female Thing.

@Daisydreamer I have some decent support over here. My mother and stepfather live just around the corner and are able to drive me to and from the local hospital where I'll have the surgery. I have a friend who constantly asks if I am ok. There are two other friends I speak to online often. I don't physically see my friends because my circle is really small. But there are decent people in my life.

@TheJuZShoW I am so glad that you have brought up the subject of female plumbing. I had endometrious which covered my cervix and uterous. it was pre cancerous. Both were taken out. Now I have a weak pelvic floor which means I have to wear special undies. Good luck with your female journey. xxx

Re: It's a Female Thing.

That is wonderful news.

I recently had tests and then D and C due to heavy blood loss 3 years after menopause. Good news is no cancer. Bad news is, blood loss started again, so I have been referred back to the Women's Hospital. Depending on what they find next, I will either get progesterone hormones, or a hysterectomy. At this stage, I think I just want the whole thing taken out.

It is great that your surgery date is booked. I hope you find a lot of relief and positive life changes after your surgery.

@Bunniekins I am so sorry to hear that! I too had endometriosis removed. I had two laparoscopic surgeries to get them removed. It is a painful first month of recovery. I can't imagine what it would be like if I was in your situation. But I am sure that at time it can give you hell . I hope you have your coping skills up and that you have your good days.

Re: It's a Female Thing.

Such an important message to bring to light. Us women often ignore these kind of things cause we feel embarrassed to talk about them, although I do feel that it’s is getting easier.

I’ve had multiple surgeries for endometriosis, ovarian cancer too. I often play join the dots on the stomach with all the scars.

pleased that you will hopefully have some much needed relief @TheJuZShoW
