Depression and Dealing with a Relationship Breakup.

Depression and Dealing with a Relationship Breakup.
Hi Everyone. I suffer from clinical depression and ocd and have done for many many years. Am on medication and have the normal ups and downs. But lately things have got much worse. I have been in a relationship with a man for the past five years. I love him dearly and he loves me. The problem being is teenage daughter and his ex. They have been very manipulative and I am no longer welcome at his house if his daughter is there and he will not answer my calls or communicate with me if his daughter is around. She hates me and her mother has encouraged that. Anyway I have dealt with this and have finally decided that I can no longer tolerate living like this. I feel the relationship is toxic. I have told him it is over. He has promised to try his hardest to fix this but I have heard it all before. My first relationship was with the man I married and lasted twenty years and I have two beautiful children. Ages 25 and 18. This was my third relationship. At the moment I am trying to deal with this loss. I am so scared and anxious. I dont want to be alone with my scarey thoughts and feelings. I am terrified of being unhappy for ever and really dont want to be alone for the rest of my life. I turn fifty at the end of the year and just see years of unhappiness and lonliness ahead of me. Can anyone help me with some good advice and tell me what worked best for them. My son lives interstate and my daughter is studying uni and not home that often.

Hi Teej. Had heard you went back to hospital. I really hope things are getting better for you. Sometimes I feel alright and the next I want to curl up in the doona for a bit. Had a different weekend. three whole days with no communication from him. Then I ring and he says it is too hard when I get like "this". So I guess its back to me being me and trying to make the best of me. You have been in my thoughts Teej 🙂

Wow three days @Tryinghardto. That's a great effort 🎉🎊. I guess yesterday hit home a bit for you when he reacted that way. I believe you can do this. You are showing great courage, just keep going a step at a time. I think for me this year I came on the forum as a way of becoming social and found having contact on here almost daily has helped me to fill the void of a relationship and is giving me a chance to learn and grow as well. I think my world view has changed a fair bit. Feel free to join in any discussion if it helps.
I have been much better but this morning I'm having a curl up in my doona one. I'm fine just sleep deprived. Luckily I have my mindfulness class this morning to get to or I may be stuck here all day 😉 Wishing you the best💜😊

Oh you guys, so relate to the doona magnet. Still here now. House a disaster... nothing matters... One thing that gets me up is a cuppa tea. Then I take it from there. Try not to look too far ahead (or back) and stay close to the moment (today) or the anxiety & internal stress mounts and the suicidal thoughts come. Stop scaring ourselves with these thoughts, rather - be gentle with ourselves, compassionate, kind - as you would be with your best friend. Learn to be OK with our own company. Its only been recent for me to embrace the concept of having a relationship with myself. Sounds 'mad' but we doing it all the time anyway - with internal dialogue, pondering what to do, altering perceptions, teaching ourselves new things... I use to think it was selfish & crazy but I bring God in (the bigger picture of life, love, learning & growth) which brings balance & purpose. It's OK to be me. This is my quiet place where I go to for strength to get out from under the doona. lol Hope you don't mind me popping by. Bugz

Hey Tawney. Welcome to our conversation. I know what you mean about finding a relationship with ourselves. Itt IS what we do everyday but it is different when we think about it. I agree with the doona relatioship. Sometimes its where you can "be" and not think ahead or behind or whatever. Teej I like the sound of your "mindfullness class" . I need to know how to do that , meditation and yoga. That is what I keep telling myself everyday. Hope you feel better this afternoon Teej. Stay safe 🙂
