Feeling Low and Worthless

Feeling Low and Worthless

Hi all,

Please forgive me to start with if its like im rabbling on here, but here goes..

I was diagnosed with Severe Depression and anxiety from the age of 18 and am now 41 and still its as raw as it was back then, constant struggles with panic attacks and just life in general and dealing with getting to know all this and what its all about and to be honest even today its got me stumped!!

Sometimes i can go months without anything to feel bad about or no anxious episodes etc but lately it feels like my whole world is crashing down around me and theres nothing i can do to make it better, it feels like im failing myself, my kids, my partner, basically everyone i love and care for i feel i dont fit in anywhere and like i just dont belong.. all i want is to feel normal again and even sometimes i feel like i dont even know what normal is anymore and my motivation has hit rock bottom and i dont know weather im coming or going at the moment, i also have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and its just something else for me to deal with, if anyone has any coping techniques or something like that i would be more than happy to hear them, thanks in advance for any help or advice your willing to give...

Hi @Tigereye80

Lovely to have you here 🙂 I'm sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time at the moment and so glad you are sharing a little with us.

Receiving a new diagnosis, even after years and years of pain and heartache, can bring feelings of intense grief, shock, even confusion. It can also leave us questioning what we thought we knew about ourselves and our place in the world. Yet in time, for some it can also bring a sense of relief/clarity and could open up possibilities in finding alternate ways of managing and coping. Not to say that what you are going through is completely attributed to this, it can leave our foundations feeling pretty shaky sometimes.

I know there is no certain way that will take this anguish away today, but I find practicing a little self-compassion can go a long way. You've been through a lot and you are going through a lot, so go gently with yourself and I do hope others can share their wisdom and provide a sense of belonging here too 💚

Re: Feeling Low and Worthless

honestly you need to find something to motivate you, im in the same boat same story, same everything, there is no easy answer, first you need to except your mental illness and work with it the best you can,BE SELFISH SOMETIMES, honestly sometimes just let your mind run with how you feel, live it,,,nothing is right or wrong, you need to find a way, were not getting any younger, the truth is we need to find a way to move forwards, trust me no one truly cares people are wrapped up in their own lives, its us or nothing, endure and fight that's my coping skill, you can do it to, geez im getting pumped up now lol,,,,,,want to take over the world lol,,,we have bpd because people treated us like garbage, bpd gives us strength and power,,,use it, I would do a smilly face but dam thing wont work.

Re: Feeling Low and Worthless

I have spent decades trying to understand depression and anxiety..

The problem is that the medical community are just not equipped to solve complex mental health issues.. nor do they have appropriate treatments..

If you look at the mechanism of action for most medication, they mainly work on a couple of the major neurotransmitters.. I believe for complex long term depression there is something more going on..

It is my opinion that one reason (and there are many) is poor metabolism of the B vitamins..

Please don't switch off until you hear what I have to say.. I have been down nearly every road there is..

Genetic nutrient deficiency has been well studied, and is absolutely real..

Getting tested for vitamin B levels is not enough, you have to be screened for the MTHFR genetic mutation.. there are other tests as well, but this is the most common.

It may not be the answer entirely, but if you have never been tested it might be worth a try..

This is an extremely complex topic that can be easily be misunderstood, and most practitioners will not know what you are talking about..
