Coping with being excluded / pushed away

Coping with being excluded / pushed away

My partner who I live with has been in hospital for the last week (involuntarily) after experiencing psychosis and a manic episode. When I called the ambulance, she told them that I had been abusing her and we were in a domestic violence situation (this isn't true and I have tried to not take this personally).

In recent days, I have been able to speak to her briefly each day, she sounded like her usual self and I thought she was on the mend. However, when I called to speak to her this morning, I was told that she had asked yesterday that I am not to be talked to and she was unavailable to talk to me. This has shattered me. I am so scared she believes I've hurt her and that I'm not a safe person. I know the journey to recovery can be long but I love her so deeply with all of my heart and want to be there, but will also respect giving her space if that's what she needs.

Has anyone been in this situation before? How did you cope? Did you still try to connect each day?

Thank you @Paperdaisy. I have a therapist who I speak to weekly at the moment and friends at call. I also know to call hotlines when I'm distressed. It's all so much and I can't stop asking why this is happening.

@ferngully

Its important you have support in place and are following good self care practices.

Sorry for the loss of your pets and some of your dreams.

Mental bealth issues can be tricky for the person directly involved and all those around who care.

It might be more about the general craziness in life these days, than any one specific thing.

We are going through very similar things right now too. False family violence reports because he left her due to not being able to cope.

There’s obviously lots more to it but I won’t go into all of that.
It’s so hard. I feel for you.
Part of me wonders if it’s worth all the stress.
I can walk away and not deal with it, but I worry about her child. Especially as she’s clearly manic.
Hopefully the hospital can get your partner on the right meds and have her seeing clearly again.
Good luck x
