Shock news

Shock news

Oh my what else can happen. My psychiatrist told me today he is moving interstate at the end of the year. I have only recently felt that i have started to trust him. Its taken me over three years to get to this point of starting to let him in. Having burried my father in law this morning, i was already feeling very drained, and he told me i looked exhusted. I told him he really knew how to make a bad day worse. He rattled off a few drs names, but i really couldnt take it in. He still wants me in hospital for more ect. But we have visiting grand children who live six hours away. I really need to be home. The only good thing is my psychologist has made me an appointment for Thursday. Really hanging on that one.

Hi @Chris

i am sorry to hear about your father in law passing.

And i know exactly what you are saying about what happened to you with regards to your psych leaving interstate.

I had a very similar thing happen to me last thursday. my therapist of 5 yrs told me that he couldn't help me anymore as it was out of his depth. he totally shocked me, i just sat there and sobbed so much. he then said he would try to find someone else for me and also talk to my psychiatrist.

a few days later, now and i have a new psychologist but can't see her until november. Are you able to ask him about the names of the people he mentioned? It's hard to take things in.

i really hope things work out for you, i know how hard it is and how you must be feeling.

good luck.

Re: Shock news

I hope the psychologist remains a stable support @Chris. It makes such a huge dfference to get to know them well enough for trust and then healing to develop. It can also feel very strange and a bit of a betrayal when after having opened up one's soul to a person ... they then are brusque and non-committal about "moving on".

Death in the family is always trying.

Go very gently with YOU.

Hang on .. til Tuesday and beyond.

Re: Shock news

@Chris. It really is bad timing from your psychiatrist. It must feel like one more thing on top of all the others to deal with.
I am glad that you have an appointment for Thursday. Maybe he can give you news about hospital admission for this weekend or early next week.
Ask your psychiatrist to write down the names, ph nbrs & experienced in what areas. Then you can take your time & look at which psychiatrist may be a good fit for you. You can phone these psychiatrists and interview them over the phone as well. Make sure your old psychiatrist gives his notes to the new psychiatrist.
In the meantime, just try and take things one moment at a time. Fingers crossed you get a bed soon.

Hi nik

Feels like a long time to tuesday. Still have grand children untill tommorow morning.

Not feeling the best. Short tempered, down. My psychiatrist took me off one antidepressant and started me on another. Warned me i could have withdrawals, which would have really kicked in by tuesday. So guess i will get worse before i get better. Just feeling crap really. Have to hope that this round of ect works.

My psychologist appointment was good. We talked alot about what is going on . And she said she wasnt going anywhere. She was very reassuring. So at least that is one stable thing. Although she only works two days a week, i am able to email her when i really need to, and she will see me at short notice if im in a crisis. Im very greatful to have her.

Re: Shock news

@Chris. It's a relief when our psychologist says they are here for us. I remember breaking down and crying when mine said it to me. And it's so important to know that gou have their total support. Try and focus on thattoday.
If you feel a bit grumpy - have time alone in your room. Let grandpa entertain the grandkids for a while.
