Daily Check In Space

Daily Check In Space

Hi Friends, Family and Carers

Caring for loved ones living with complex mental health issues can be really challenging, and the carer's experience can often be overlooked and/or difficult to talk about day to day. We have created this space so that those feelings, challenges and accomplishments can be heard, and to promote carer's wellbeing and self-care.

To participate, here are 3 questions for your daily check in:

1) How are you feeling?

You can use a scale of 1-10 (1= really bad , 10= really good), if you would like to.

2) What is one thing you have struggled with, and one thing you have done well?

3) What is one nice thing you can do for yourself today?

You're welcome to check in daily, or how ever often you need to! Please just remember to be respectful and kind to each other as each of our experiences are so different.

Feel free to tag any carers you know in this space!

Re: Depressed

@Jynx

I've spoken to a doctor I ask for my medication change but she wouldn't change it unless I see her

Re: Depressed

@Leeanne oh that is frustrating! I wish it could be more accessible for you. I hope you can get in to see the doc soon, sometimes a change of meds can make a big difference.

Re: Daily Check In Space

Thank you for accepting me on here. I am the Nana of a BPD sufferer. I have been her main support since the beginning. I wanted to respond to some of the sad family posts, because I may be able to help, having gone through the nightmare first hand with my granddaughter. We have reached a 'doable' stage after some years and I wanted to give people hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. 🤗

Thank you for supporting the Forums @BPDFamilymember

Very heartwarming to hear about your experiences supporting family members with mental health issues. Thank you for your encouraging words and so important for people to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Take care

Feeling tired atm.

Saw a quote recently 'the kind of tired sleep can't fix' and that about sums it up 😴

@Determined Mrs has used this line before. I don't know if I've felt it, but the very notion scares me. take care.

Re: Daily Check In Space

I think I've been in that space many times @Determined - the tired, sleep can't fix.

I think I was in that stupor for many years actually. I've only recently 'woken up'.

For me, it was like a mental exhaustion.... not physical. And when I'd wake from sleep, the mental exhaustion was still there, but another day of it...

Re: Daily Check In Space

Definitely mental exhaustion @tyme

Have been in this space previously (and for a period of years), thought I was passed all of that but seem to be descending again at the moment and it concerns me 😞

Have read back over the Tuesday night discussion on types of rest (LE Side)
Fail on every level there. Have 2 weeks break from work coming up but for various reasons can see little brain break in that space. (And to be fair, work is not the problem). From when I wake to when I go to bed there is little reprieve from input and stimulus, even when I go to bed there is road noise.

Not sure how or where but I need to be doing things differently.
