I feel troubled and sad

I feel troubled and sad

I'm not looking after myself and I don't know why. I'm stuck in a negative space. I feel repressed, blocked, held back. I feel like I can't be myself and I don't know why. I feel troubled (distressed and anxious) and sad.

Today I'm grateful for...

Bessel Van Der Kolk and his book The Body Keeps the Score.

A cup of tea with honey.

That's all. I'm not going to force myself to be grateful. I will only write things I'm genuinely grateful for.

Re: I feel troubled and sad

I have a headache.

My finger is still sore but the pain is more bearable.

I called the Coronavirus hotline and they said it's okay for me to go to Melbourne to pick up my bike. I'm just waiting for the manager at the bike store to get back to me.

I ate healthy food all day (and no sugar).

I'm glad that it's night time.

I did a 20 minute meditation and I finished listened to my audio book The Art of Mindful Living. Now I'm going to make myself a cup of tea and listen to my audio book The Body Keeps the Score.

It's raining and the rain sounds very nice. I definitely feel calmer after my meditation.

Re: I feel troubled and sad

I'm in a good mood today. I think it's because I know I will be getting my bike soon.

It has been raining all day and it's going to rain tonight so I won't be able to take my Pug for a walk.

Things I have achieved so far today...

I fed my Pug.

I had my breakfast.

I took my vitamins.

I had 2 glasses of water and 2 cups of tea.

I washed my face with a warm face washer and put some witch hazel toner on my skin. It felt very nice.

I brushed my hair.

I made my bed.

I tidied up a bit.

I put on a load of washing.

My plans for today are...

Have a shower and wash my hair.

Clean my teeth.

Call the chemist and organise my prescriptions.

Order some more vitamins online.

Go to the supermarket and do some shopping.

Make something nice and healthy for dinner.

Do a meditation.

Listen to my audio book The Body Keeps the Score.

I have removed the video. I found out that the guy cheated on his fiancee and I can't watch his videos anymore.

Something has happened to trigger me and I'm very upset. I knew this situation was coming. I have been putting it off for as long as I can. It's going to get a lot worse from here on. I'm going to have to really look after myself now. No matter what happens I'm going to meditate every day.

I did two 10 minute meditations. It was quite difficult but I did them. I have made myself a cup of tea and now I'm going to watch a video of Thich Nhat Hanh giving a talk.

Re: I feel troubled and sad

Hi @Arizona,

Hope you are doing okay? Thich Nhat Hanh is very dear to me. Are we allowed to talk about Buddhisim here? Not the religion, but the way of training the mind to elimnate suffering? New here, so not sure of the rules

There is a great new podcast on spotify called The Way Out Is In that one of Thich's key attendants has started with an retired editor from the Guardian. Well worth a listen.

Wishing you all the happiness you deserve,

M

Hey @Former-Member - Welcome to the forums! I'm Jynx, one of the moderators.

You're more than welcome to talk about the practice of Buddhism, so long as it is keeping within our Community Guidelines. For instance, under the Respect guideline, it says, "Everyone has different beliefs and values. It is okay to share your own, but it's not acceptable to criticise other's beliefs or pressure anyone to follow your beliefs and values."
