Welcome and getting started

Midlife crisis affair and separation

Midlife crisis affair and separation

Together 23 years, married 18 aged 50.

My father physically assaulted my mother when I was young and I was in the room helpless to do anything.

My sister was sexually abused by one of my mothers boyfriends after she split form my father (they are back together again)

I was molested by my grandmother.

I was an alcoholic and she begged for me to stop and get help. I didnt UNTIL I checked her phone and saw her messaging another guy I love you. I lost it. Confronted her. Move forward 3 months she left. Got help for my emotional crutch drinking and dealt with it but too late.

She started her affair in Novemeber which as it turns out was the same time she started perimenopause (not diagnosed until April).

She is now living the great single life while I try and take care of all fiancials, 2 sons, their girlfriends and baby with another baby on the way while she goes on her merry way with no consideration or acceptance of the consequences.

She cut ties with her affair because I made her but recently told me she had started talking to him again. Why she would tell me is beyond belief unless she tries to drum it into me.

I have had suciidal thoughts and nearly got there twice. Have had police welfare checks done due to being reported.

Every day is a struggle and some days are just so dark I wish one of us was dead but I keep going because of our sons and the hope thatg one day she wakes up to what is going on in real life instead of the fantasy world she has with her affair partner.

I was never the best husband and certainly accept my part in where its at but am at my wits end on how to continue..........

Hi @Galaga,

I'm really sorry you are in so much pain right now. It may seem ridiculous of me to say one day you won't be in so much pain but several times I tried to commit suicide as a teenager and someone said it to me. Of course I didn't believe him but he was right. Time helped to heal some wounds. What I did learn is that if I have a bad day and felt suicidal, I made a pact with myself to wait and see how I felt after a nights sleep. You may find a doctor might be able to suggest something which might help you sleep. Generally I found the next day better and kept on going one day at a time. That was about 38 years ago and I am still alive. My thoughts are with you and hoping the pain will lessen in time.
