need some advice nsw coronavirus truck drivers pass through sa

need some advice nsw coronavirus truck drivers pass through sa

Hi

As you’s probably have heard about the truck drivers from nsw going to perth through sa and vic, apparently they stopped at a couple service stations at port augusta and ceduna.

If cases pop up from there and state locks down what would be a way to get a exemption to have second accomodation and/or other workshop in different property to main one and go there and stay there unless leaving to go to there and back to primary residence or leaving for essentials.

What’s likely chance of cases popping up from there and state locking down as found past and future lockdowns hard because am at age where am wanting to have own space even if part time stay to start off with own kitchen bathroom and lounge area and the primary residence only has about 500m2 yard and the aunt will likely stay there whole life time and what am doing to get it is as about as close as am going to get for quite a while and just trying to do what previous generations did and make do for now.

Am single and only have one wage so it’ll be longer because usually it takes longer if on a single wage and you need 2 normal incomes or 1 really good income however if you don’t mind waiting longer it is possible on 1.

Find past and future lockdowns hard because only current options for a proper shed and own space generally have to close and don’t yet have anything else and trying to make do with current options until the more ideal thing comes however long it takes.

Am waiting until am able to buy as with cost of renting it’s nearly as much as buy plus with renting you’re limited to what you can do to place and with buying you’re not and you get to choose how it’s setup and choose colours and fittings and stuff,

Normally the minimum is 10% for a deposit but 20% or more would be better and sometimes you can get away with 5% under certain conditions and think that along with buy now pay later drives this generation of working age people to want latest and everything all at once.

What could be done to end future lockdowns or where could you quarantine seperate to rest of household in event that the house had to quarantine because yard is only about 500m2 and it isn’t big enough to put a tiny house or large van to live in where you’s be able to quarantine seperate or not be affected.

Due to being happy living at primary residence currently just want to most importantly get the shed trouble sorted and part time stay sorted and have latest and new gear and paint and fit outs then do rest as am able to afford

Thanks

Hi @daisy20202-7 ,

I have read your post thoroughly.

Please excuse my ignorance, but just to clarify, is your main question, How to apply for an exemption so that you can move freely between properties for the purpose of quarantining?

I'm not the one to answer, but perhaps you can phone the Corona virus hotline?

Hope you get some answers soon,

Hi @daisy20202-7

You seem to have a few different worries there. We don't have much control over where Covid-19 cases crop up. We can choose to vaccinate or not but lots of people live in shared households where isolating is difficult or impossible. In Victoria we're not allowed to travel between a main and holiday residence so that's not necessarily an answer either.

It sounds as though you're saving up for your own place. In that case you might not be able to afford a part-time home as well, but camping might be way to get out and have time by yourself occasionally. If you need a shed as a workspace there might be another option like using your aunt's garage and putting up a carport. Decorating your home to suit yourself is something you could do one room at a time, and if you and your aunt have a spare room you might be able to set it up as a retreat.

Connecting with other people is probably mostly online these days. I'm an older person so can't really recommend sites or apps but you could start a thread asking other forumites for suggestions. Living in a rural/regional area and working nights and weekends must make meeting people s bit harder but I hope you can persevere. Sometimes people meet through school, TAFE and university courses that also create more work opportunities further down the track.

I'm glad you're mostly happy with where you're living but wanting to stretch your wings and find more independence must be frustrating at times. Do you get to the city or a larger centre much? Or play a sport? Is there a local library? Are there multi-user computer games you can play?

Wishing you the best of luck Daisy

In the unexpected event of a lockdown in sa or quarantine how would you be able to quarantine seperate if you live in shared house where it's hard if not impossible to separate or have your own space if you're at age where you like to and you can't afford your own house or the property isn't big enough to put a tiny house on or have extra sheds and your trying to make do with only options l.

at moment only options usually have to close and could be at anytime and thinking of another option that doesn't have to close

Hi

probably won't be doing hospitality in 5 years as am starting to get tired and giving it 5 years maximum to see what the current owners of the job that am doing end up doing to decide which option to go with out of part time test and tag for yourself or just concentrate on the secondhand side as the cafe sells secondhand stuff too.
once that times passed if they’re still there what’s best way to explain that you no longer wish to do hospitality and just wish to concentrate on second side only and explain that you like working for and with the people but am getting tired from the hospitality side
Would like to stop the unsociable work hours and work standard hours at some point.
After all the research on hospitality industries have worked out that it’s atleast one of the following reasons that ex hospitality workers are not returning after being put on job keeper or are quitting more than ever
1. With people holidaying home the industry has got busier and workers are tired/burnt out and that’s exposed the problem and made it worse.
2. The workers have been doing it years and probably are tired and want to do something easier and no longer work unsociable hours.
3. With job keeper and coronavirus lockdowns and quarantine it’s probably made the workers re think their work life balance and with people holidaying home made them realise how tired and overworked they are which made them quit or not return once they could re open which likely explains the staff shortage.
4. Being on job keeper probably made them realise they could do something easier and get similar money in less time
5. Bit of everything
Do you’s think it would be better to follow a person’s advice at local mens shed and start planning the part time business if that’s what you have in mind even if you don’t do anything now as once the time has passed or it especially food side changes owners that’s it and it could come at anytime and by planning you got some idea and because it’ll probably take 5 years to get the business running
Thanks
