Welcome and getting started

Hi I'm new

Hi I'm new

I have been struggling with mental health since i was in year seven. I have autism wich at times i love because of the way my brain works and others i hate becuse of the same reason. I have never talked on a forum to others that struggle with mental health but thought id give it a try. my family doesn't accept me for who i am wich i hate i identify as a lesbian and some of my family do not accept that people think becuase i have a disability and mental health i can't do things that other people can do wich hurts i find my friends and some of my support workers more encoraging and ecepting of who i am and me doing what i want to do in life then my own family. I love to do colouring, jigsaw puzzles, drawing, playing video games, lego, baking and cuddling my teddies.

Hi @shayshine

Welcome to the Sane forums. I hope you find a safe and supportive environment here.

I'm sorry to hear that your family doesn't accept you for you. I can relate to this in some was. Some of my famiily struggle to accept my mental illness.

I am glad however that you have some friends and some support workers more accepting of you and your choices. What sort of support do you have in real life?

It sounds like you have some good strategies to keep you busy too which is good. What sort of things do you like to bake?

Again, it is nice to meet you and I hope you find the support you are looking for here.

Take care and I hope you have a great day.

Hello @shayshine welcome to the forum!

It's good that you have supportive friends.

I sometimes have a love/hate relationship with my brain too.

I have bipolar and sometimes my experience of it is a blessing, other times a curse.

The forum is a good place to connect with people who are understanding and accepting.

You can use the search bar to look for conversations that might interest you.

Hi @shayshine,

Welcome to the forums!

Im sorry to hear that your family doesn't accept you. I'm queer and growing up I was surrounded by a lot of people who didn't accept my sexuality which I found very difficult to handle. I'm very glad to hear that you have supportive and accepting friends and support workers and it's great that you have discovered this forum where you're able to express yourself and connect with others.

I also enjoy colouring in and playing video games!

Take care, CalmingNature
