Trauma from attempts

Trauma from attempts

I was going to post this on my thread, but was hoping that maybe more people would see it and read if I started a new one. Hope I don't say anything that will get me into trouble, but genuinely want to know what others thoughts and experiences are.

ive recently been in hospital after a serious attempt. The whole experience has left me feeling rather traumatised. What I did. The police and ambulance involvement. The medical treatment that I received at the hospital.

Thinking about it sets my anxiety off. I had to go to the chemist today and it triggered me being around all that medication. Even taking my own medication is difficult at the moment, I dread it, it makes me feel sick.

Guess I'm wondering how others feel after an attempt? How do you deal with it? My psychologist has just left, so it makes it difficult to connect with someone on that level at the moment to try and process it.

Re: Trauma from attempts

Hello @Bow

The feelings I’ve had have been guilt, shame, fear, failure and relief.

Like @Snowie I’ve redone my safety plan a couple of times and now I know I can call the Acute Care Team after hours and my pdoc during business hours while knowing that if I call them I will not necessarily go to hospital if I call prior to doing anything.

Any attempt leaves us traumatised as do the si and sh thoughts and actions. Having a useful SP is vital.

Take care 💖🦋💖
