I don't know anyone that has participated in the Australian trials @crimson_celt .
I would never qualify because I am prone to psychosis and would end up in the ER, maybe never to be released.
But from the podcasts I have heard it is still a talk therapy. Psilocybin for depression and MDMA for PTSD is embedded in talk therapy. It is not distributed across the counter for you to use at home.
One of the target people with psilocybin is end of life care for cancer patients etc.
I think any therapy that helps some people is a good thing. But similarly with other therapies I think it will only be available to x% of the population and not everyone will respond. They found good initial results with ketamine, but the early results didn't last, people's SI returned in the longer term.
So the usual psychiatric situation - good for some, but not good for all.
My NDIS support worker is doing her thesis on psychedelics and depression, we chat about it on the way to see Dr K on Fridays, I will be interested to hear the results. Corny
