Voices grrr!

Voices grrr!

Having a bad time with them tonight. The lead voice is really vocal and shouting obscenities in my ears. The others are lauging and telling me to complete some awful acts. I just told my partner and have taken some prn antipsychotic medication. I wish I knew how to get rid of them. I've been hearing them off and on (and in the last 10 years more often than not) since I was 16. I am 37 now.

I hate schizophrenia. It's an evil illness!

Hi @Queenie have the prn meds helped at all? I hope that things have quietened down or at leasted muted in intensity. I'm glad you are able to tell your partner about whats happening for you. If you're not too tired now, is there anything you can do to help distract you? i've been watching old shows and comedies lately while doing little bits and pieces of work (not evnough)

here thinking of you

Thanks for your replies @helephant1969 and @Former-Member.

I eventually got to sleep after taking more prn later last night. Today my voices aren't too bad yet, so the medication did actually do something I think (thankfully).

I usually use distraction as a means of coping with them, but it is difficult to distract sometimes with them. I listen to music and wear headphones a lot, I play games online and I like my studies when I am able to do some of them.

Hey @Queenie

I've found talk back radio better than music as a distraction because I eventually start engaging with some of the people that ring the radio station. I'll even end up telling them how stupid they are or argue with them. I never ring the radio station though. It helps me. It might be worth a shot.

Talk back radio. I've never thought of that! Might give it a go. Thanks for the suggestion @Kurra! I find myself engaging with the callers when I listen, but like you never actually call the station.

Time to search the AM band!
