Easily annoyed /frustrated

Easily annoyed /frustrated

I was just wondering if anyone else feels this way. I seem to get annoyed /frustrated when I get advice to just think happy thoughts.. Make up my mind to not let anything get me down and my clinical depression will just lift. I mean if it was that easy l would be doing that?

Dear @Con, I know what you mean. Once I am in a hole it is hard to get back out. I have resorted to writing a list of happy activities that I have stuck on the fridge to remind myself to go and do in times of pain. The most important thing to me is looking after myself as best I can. I try to do little indulgences when I feel low such as eating a whole punnet of strawberries in one go, or putting on a dvd etc with a happy ending, or getting a fresh haircut, or massaging top quality moisturiser onto my body, or ordering food from my favourite Thai restaurant. If I can't spoil myself then who can? I need to get out when I am low. By the way, strawberries have no effect on your blood sugar so you can eat as many as you like and you won't put on weight!

@Cin It takes practice sweetie, but you'll get there. I still get stuck on it myself sometimes, so don't beat yourself up if you get frustrated it's a natural reaction. Unfortunately we have to deal with ignorance all the time, but if you can learn to "pull" yourself out of the frustration & emotion and look at these comments for what they are, just comments from people who know no better, you'll be less upset by them. Good luck and take care xx
