Post traumatic Growth! Lets Celebrate

Post traumatic Growth! Lets Celebrate

Over the last year my mind has been noticing . Noticing alot and I think wow this time last year I was only able to do this( specific thing) and now look at me Now . This looking back for a moment has been vital in my wellness awareness and in witnessing my own journey and reflecting on real information about my life.

Ive recently started looking after my body, my wellbeing and Im realising that Ive eaten more veggies in the last 6weeks than I have most probably in the last 3 years when I was so unwelll with depression and grief. I didnt eat, didnt have an appetite was just "waiting to magically die " without the perceived courage to "do myself in" and then I would make myself eat at least once a day wake up the next day and gooo "oh no Im still here" Now I am cooking and feeding myself nutritious food at least 3 times a day , growing some veggies too ( being in the garden is so peaceful) and caring for myself. Im realising choosing to feed myself , care for my body is the greatest self advocacy I can do every day of my life because even if the pain of past is debilitating and rears its ugly head each day and I dont feel loved or belong anywhere for those moments I know I have so much love for the people I love and I want to just love them . Sometimes its all I have to offer and I wanna know the depths of this great gift I carry.

So this thread I wanna encourage and hear moments of self reflection and growth. So we can celebrate each other every day. What is one thing that you've achieved today that perhaps You werent able to this time last year, or even last month or last week or even yesterday?

Re: Post traumatic Growth! Lets Celebrate

Hi @BraveOne,

Today is an especially hard day for me. On this day I don't think I've achieved anything I wasn't doing this time last year.

But most other days I am doing many things I wasn't doing back then, such as going out of the home on public transport to most of my appointments. Many other things that in fact I haven't done for years. Above all, going out the home so much more often and getting much more exercise.

Even though today I just want to go to bed again, I am finding it inspiring to look back on how far I've overall come in a year, as you said. Congratulations on your progress as well!
